Since posting the SDCC DC Multiverse reveals the other week I have gotten a LOT of other questions about the other figures and waves that they announced last year at their SDCC panel and this year at Toy Fair. I reached out to my friends at Mattel and got the scoop on where and when everything should be landing. There’s definitely some news and updates below so check it out and see where your most anticipated figures will land:
ROOKIE Wave:
This wave featuring: Rebirth Batman, Bat-Wing, Duke Thomas Robin, TV Atom and Reaper is hitting stores right now. While I personally haven’t found any of them in my local stores other friends and AFi staff have found and bought some of this wave in stores already. The collect and connect figure for this wave is the “Rookie” Bat-suit.
Walgreen’s Dark Knight II Flash exclusive figure:
Starting to hit stores now. I found mine earlier this week. Be on the lookout.
Walmart exclusive Wonder Woman mini-wave:
This exclusive set of figures was announced last year at the Mattel panel at SDCC and is made up of: Wonder Woman as seen in DKIII and Wonder Girl. This wave also has an exclusive 2 piece collect and connect figure of Dr. Psycho.
See below for the update on this wave.
Walmart exclusive Super Friends Assortment:
This assortment is made up of 4 figures total in two waves. The first wave of Batman and Green Lantern are in stores now. They are repaints of existing figures in the colors of the old Hanna Barbara Super Friends animated series. They come with a Super Friends stand and cloth capes for Batman and Superman. The second assortment will be Superman and Aquaman. These originally started hitting stores up in Canada, but have since started to move to Walmarts in the US. As of this writing, I have never seen any of them in a Walmart store in my area. I did get an IM from a fellow collector this week that said he found them at his local Walmart in Indiana for under $17. For an update on the last 2 Super Friends figures see below.
The “new” Interim wave:
Here’s the biggest news- Something happened with Walmarts orders for both the Wonder Woman (DKIII Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl) mini wave and the second assortment of the Super Friends figures (Superman and Aquaman). The figures were already in production so Mattel made the decision to create an interim wave that will be coming to mass market. These figures will NOT be retailer exclusives anymore. The new assortment will be DKIII Wonder Woman, Wonder Girl (both with the Dr. Psycho collect and connect figure parts) and Super Friends Aquaman and Superman. There’s a possibility the Superman figure might be delayed and not ship in the initial cases. This wave will come between the Rookie wave and the Clayface waves.
The Clayface wave:
This wave is on track. Mattel brought a few of them to SDCC but there was not space to put them in the booth. They look great and Clayface is a real stand out!
This wave is made up of: Rebirth Superman, Batwoman, Two-Face, Green Lantern and TV’s Martian Manhunter from Supergirl.
Clayface will be the collect and connect figure. This wave should be out by the end of the year.
The Rebirth Lex Luthor wave:
This is the wave we revealed a few weeks ago. The figures will be: The Ray, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, Vixen, Bizarro, Baz Green Lantern and Rebirth Wonder Woman. The collect and connect figure will be Rebirth Lex Luthor. This wave is scheduled for early 2018.

THANK YOU for this article. It’s nice to have all of this information in one place. It’s been very difficult to figure out who’s expected when and in which assortment. Very sincerely appreciated.
Cool. Definitely some good figures on the way. Though I kinda wish some of them were delayed so they could have the additional articulation that some figures are getting. Especially Rebirth Batman and Superman.
That said, ummm… whatever happened to those Justice League Action reveals you guys mentioned?
I remember seeing a Wonder Woman New 52 figure when they first announced the Rookie wave. Does anyone know what happened to that? I haven’t seen any of this line at retail yet.
I finally found Dark Knight Returns Flash at a Walgreens. Very nice figure. They had some Multiverse figures from last year on clearance for five bucks. When I bought this new figure it rang up for five bucks too!
Lots of great information. Thank you, Daniel.
There is also the Justice League movie figures which have just started to hit stores. Any word on the other five figures shown at SDCC: Shirtless Aquman, Mera, helmeted Cyborg, second Batman and the Parademon? Was wondering if those were part of a second wave (with another CNC) or if they were retailer exclusive add-ons to the wave (like the nightclub Harley or unmasked Batman were last year).
Not counting the five mystery Justice League figures, there should be 36 individually released figures (plus 6 Collect-and-Connects), one Mattel Vault 2-pack and the JL Batmobile with Batman figure with another 6 (plus CNC) already announced for next year.
I do wish Mattel were a little clearer with their offerings. I like some of the add-ons for the CnC figures with their retailer exclusives, but half the time I don’t even know they exist.
I only last week found out there is a TRU-exclusive Wonder Woman movie figure that has a shield for Ares. She appears to be just the same basic movie WW we’ve seen before, so not worth a shield to get, but I wouldn’t have even known about her unless I had been on TRU’s site.
And the mess that was trying to understand which Suicide Squad figures were coming out, and which pieces made what Croc, and where to buy them…oy.
Great news that the Dr. Psycho ‘wave’ will be easier to find, theoretically! Thanks for mapping it all out for us.
I am actually pretty happy that the WW stuff won’t be exclusive to Wal-Mart. I really despise going into that store, especially because my local one’s toy department is so poorly run. When the Wonder Woman movie toys came in, they all were immediately placed on the salesfloor…face down on the out-of-reach, need-assistance, top shelf above everything else. But, they’ll leave 50 empty pegs within the Marvel/Star Wars aisle for months on end. Their planograms and execution are lacking. 🙂
They need to paint the superman boots red! They are red now in the comics!
Really? We have a black Robin now? The elite overlords sure do like to shove diversity down our throats don´t they?
Next thing you know, we’ll have comics with women as the lead characters.
His name is Duke Thomas. He was one of group of inner city kids who all took it upon themselves to become “Robin” to clean up their neighborhood. He now works “officially” for Batman under the name “Lark”.
Don’t really like a big black Robin in your face?
Don’t really like a big black Robin in your face…or “shoved down your throat”?
Right? They won’t be happy until they turn everyone into a black gay tranny and alienate their entire fan base. “White people are all evil, take everything they own and give it to every minority walk of life you can come up with”. Marvel lost me years ago for just that reason and DC is hot on their tail. I was all in for the civil rights movement until this recent PC/SJW upswing. Now I’m rethinking my stance on WPWW.
If you are too cowardly to provide a name or an actual email address with your small-minded and fearful comments then you clearly know that you are on the wrong side of history.
Whatever gets you to sleep at night, snowflake.
YOU ARE A DEPLORABLE TRUMPZOMBIE
Picket is a PC snowflake fascist and anyone who supports white genocide is a scuzzy little cuck not worth the breathe the draw. Keep censoring, Danny. That’s the tolerant left for ya’.
Don’t you have a rally in Virgina that you are missing to type this nonsense? No one ever said the “tolerant left” was gonna tolerate racism. And anyone that uses the term “cuck” and is not from Elizabethan England and collects super hero action figures and comics are clearly just looking at the pretty pictures and not reading any of the stories.
I love how people complain about diversity. “Oh noes! Black/gay/female* people exist, an’ I don’ wanna see ’em in my comics/movies/TV* shows! But I’m NOT a bigot! Imma just uncomfortable with anything that might lead me to question my straight white male privilege! Or basically might make me think that others who aren’t like me might be worthwhile people too!”

Loving Rebirth Batman, TV Atom, Batwoman and the Reaper figures. 😀
But yeah that Superman is already outdated. Rebirth Superman got replaced by Reborn Superman. 😛
DR PSYCHO PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well said Mr. Pickett!
“I was all for civil rights…” Moron
You were all for civil rights until you realized that meant things would be more inclusive for EVERYONE?!?!
“Hey, I’m no bigot. I’m all for civil rights…just make sure things stay the same as they were.”
Friggin foil heads
Thank you very much for this update!
So far, which multiverse characters use the same bucks as the old DU Classics?
Just picked up Walgreen’s Dark Knight II Flash exclusive figure for $12.99. Walgreen’s is having a clearance sale for all DC Universe figures on their shelves and they included this new figure in the discounts. Sweet!
Hello Mr.Pickett, quick question for the Clayface wave. By end of the year release are we talking October, or do I have to wait a few more months to get my hands on those figures? The wait is killing me :'(
What month is the clayface wave coming out? Toywiz has it as October? Anyone know? Also diversity is what makes dc awesome. I love the duke thomas robin figure I got!
