The Rest of the Story - More Knock-OffsThe latest knock-off line to emerge is the most puzzling yet. While it is highly doubtful that it is official, this goofy line combines pieces from the two previous South American knock-offs, and even a different companies products altogether. Below is the only carded example I've seen (these were first reported to me as being found in Mexico back in 1997). The card art appears to be that of Captain Ray, even down to the same company logo, Gulliver. But the art is on the wrong side, is the wrong size, and the chest symbol on Captain Ray has changed. The logo still says Super Heroes.
While this figure is obviously a recast Hulk figure, he is listed as "Hombre de las Nieves"; literally "The Man of the Snows"...the Abominable Snowman! But on closer inspection, not only is this figure the Hulk, but the real Hulk himself is part of this line, along with Spider-Man, Superman, batman, aquaman, and the real Captain Ray! But wait, that's not all! These don't even appear to be recast Super Powers, but modified Mego Pocket Pals, which first appeared in the late 1970s! (shown left, courtesy of a pic from the Mego Museum). The other pack on the left contains bad molds of Superman and Flash, who has inexplicably turned white. Maybe he is distantly related to the Snowman...
