Dr. Fate
The Mystic Mage

ORIGIN

Famed archaeologist Sven Nelson was excavating the tomb of Nabu, a Lord of Order, when a cloud of gas escaped from the sarcophagus, killing him instantly. His young son Kent was spared, however, and was confronted by the spirit of Nabu instead. Nabu selected Kent Nelson as his champion on Earth to fight the forces of Chaos. Training Kent in the mystic arts, Nabu also imbued his spirit into a golden helmet. Whenever Kent puts the helmet on, Nabu takes control of his body, fusing the two into the hero known as Dr. Fate

FIGURE STATS

Dr. Fate is well sculpted and looks very striking when put next to other figures, mainly due to his two tone appearance. The figure is missing the yellow section that covers his lower stomach. I've never seen a version of Dr. Fate without it, but I could be wrong. When his legs are squeezed together he casts a spell that would put the mystic moons of munipoor to shame.

COMMENTS

While he has endured ups and downs over the years, Dr. Fate remains one of DC's oldest yet most underutilized characters. One does wonder why a Dr. Fate and no Spectre, however. Strangely, the character became a woman at about the time this figure was released. Oh, well.
