ORIGIN
Young Billy batson was wandering down an abandoned subway tunnel
when he was confronted by the ancient wizard, shazam. shazam
named Billy as his successor to fight evil on Earth and gave
him the great powers that his name stood for: wisdom of Solomon,
strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage
of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. The wizard was then crushed
by a large block of stone. By saying the wizard's name, Billy
was transformed into Captain Marvel.
FIGURE STATS
Shazam! (Captain Marvel) comes with a cool cape that can be
slung over one shoulder: just like in his funny book adventures!
If you then squeeze his legs together, Captain Marvel will show
you his Thunder Punch! Golly!
COMMENTS
For the third series, Kenner started dipping into the DC
acquisitions pool. Captain Marvel was sadly forced to be referred
to as Shazam! due to a legal restriction brought about by
Marvel Comics who had copyrighted his name before DC acquired
the character from Fawcett Comics, whose copyright had lapsed.
Regardless of what he is called, this figure is an excellent
addition to any collection.
