Erik "Superfriend" Skov

“Gathered together from the four corners of the universe.” Oh, wait, that’s the show, not me. Erik “SuperFriend” Skov never actually got to appear on the show, although he did watch it every week. Erik spent 6 years working for Hasbro in Pawtucket, RI before leaving for a job that paid more (Why else would a collector leave the company that was making Star Wars, Transformers, and while I was there Batman). I used to post all over the net. These days I tend to hang my hat at AFI.

My initial reaction was that this was the Iron Man movie set.  Apparently it is a comic based set.  But it must be very far off.  Spider-man, Teen Titans and Wolverine and the X-Men sets are coming before this one.  Glad to see Iron Monger and War Machine represented.  War Machine was conspicuously absent from both the…

Today, at gaming stores across the land, table top miniatures enthusiasts got an early Christmas present.  A new release of WizKids popular HeroClix game, Streets of Gotham (SOG).  SOG is a sister set to the recent Batman set with many themes from Batman carried across into SOG.  Birds of Prey characters are a new theme in…

If you have followed my link from HCRealms, welcome to AFi, my “other home” on the internet.  My No Man’s Land experience goes back a few months.  In some of my posts I lamented how my local gaming store was no longer running regular HeroClix events.  I knew I needed to find a new place….

The boxes have shipped to stores.  Some to homes.  Some have been opened and the set has been ‘spoiled’ with pictures and stats of what the new pieces can do.  I’m talking about the new release of HeroClix, named “Batman”. At comic and gaming shops across the land, folks will be buying and playing the…

There was a time when my son and I thought there should be animals in HeroClix.  In the set called “DC75” Beast Boy of the Teen Titans, Doom Patrol and currently being featured on Young Justice, was given 4 forms.  Person, bear, cheetah and T-Rex. This week WizKids announced that they would revisit the character…

They’ve been out for about 10 days, but I only got my brick on Wednesday.  Yes, a brick.  That is the term for buying 1/2 of a case of HeroClix, sealed.  The Justice League set is single figure blind boxed, with 21 different figures: The starting cast of the new Justice League, Justice League Dark,…

Today sees the release of the next set of HeroClix for players and collectors to get.  This time WizKids gives us a collection of Avengers and classic Avengers villains while mixing in a few surprises here and there.  Speaking of surprises, as with the last several sets, unlisted “chase” figures have been found mixed in. …

For our friend VeeBee at The Fwoosh – from Heroclix Laval on Facebook.   Solicits for the upcoming The Batman set also promise us a Batmobile and Invisible Jet.  I want these because I play the game, but when was the last time someone made us an Invisible Jet?

In my previous article, I discussed my feelings on the biggest issue with Mattel’s Young Justice line, the price.  You can read about it here.  Today, I want to talk about character packout. 1. One of the things I noticed while collecting the Batman Brave and Bold line was what was left on the shelves. …

Once again, I find myself wondering if DC/WB wants us to even know this is being made.  I have seen zero advertising for this release.  An interesting note, this will be the first release where I have not read the base story.  I did enjoy Joe Kelly’s Justice League which came out shortly after this,…

If you are a fan of the Young Justice TV show, like me, you might wish you could collect some form of figure of the characters on the show that reminded you of the show.  Mattel offered this in 2 forms, 6 inch and 4 inch, both of which the general public rejected.  Before they…
