Last time out I wrote about my love for The A-Team. However, the 80s television series is not the only A-Team for which I have great nostalgia. To quote Yoda, "No…there is another." That other A-Team…in fact, my first A-Team would be none other than the GI JOE Adventure Team. Long before GI JOE shrunk…

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else…

I don’t know about you, but for me nostalgia plays a huge part in my toy collecting habits. As I got older, entered into marriage and then parenthood I started to attempt to curtail my collecting habits. I have tried to stop being a magpie collector, picking up every new and shiny thing that caught…

(with all due respect to author Muriel Barbery) It certainly seems that the obsessive gene is hereditary. Last year I wrote about my 5 year old daughters obsession with My Little Pony. Allie still loves her ponies, but she currently has developed a new obsession that I never saw coming… Sonic the Hedgehog. Now, ultimately,…

Last week I followed up on my Marvel Universe toyline top 10 wants from last year (which, you may recall, I was 0 – 11 in my predictions). This time around I’ll be looking at my top 10 Most Wanted DC Universe: Infinite Heroes predictions from a year ago.

One of the things I enjoy in observing the toy industry, especially some of the smaller players, is watching a given companies product improve by leaps and bounds. There’s a lot of reasons for this happening. Sometimes it is as simple as a new person being brought on board to oversee your product lines. Perhaps…

I posted a blog a year ago with my Top 10 (well, 11 really…I snuck Stegron the Dinosaur Man in at the last minute!) picks for Hasbro’s 4" Marvel Universe line. Boy, was I off. Way off. Here we are, a full year later and I am a solid 0 – 11.

Evergreen. It is the holy grail of the toy industry. Finding a property that remains both popular and viable in the marketplace even when there is no media support. Every year there is a flurry of movie licensing as toy companies scamble to catch lightning in a bottle and, hopefully, find the next Star Wars….

The annual Origins Games Fair was held this past week in Columbus, Ohio and I was able to go and check things out for two of the five days the show ran for. Every year it seems there are a couple of games that catch my eye. This year is no exception.  Ex Illis…

Last week I blogged about my 10 Most Wanted figures for Hasbro’s super-cool new Marvel Universe line. This week I wanted to do the same for one of my other favorite toy lines: Mattel’s DC Universe: Infinite Heroes. Most AFI readers know that I’ve been championing this line since it first debuted at the…

I started a thread here on AFI a few days back asking for folks ten most wanted characters in Hasbro’s new Marvel Universe toyline. There’s been a similar thread going on over at Fwoosh, too. Part of the fun of collecting is the guessing and hoping what characters might be coming down the pipe….

After dropping my daughter off at preschool this morning,  I swung by Wal-Mart to see what might be out. There wasn’t anything new (well…not new new) but I did pick up the 3-3/4" Captain Pike figure from Playmates new Star Trek movie line. Driving home I got to thinking about collecting habits and buying preferences…
