Erik "Superfriend" Skov
"Gathered together from the four corners of the universe." Oh, wait, that's the show, not me. Erik "SuperFriend" Skov never actually got to appear on the show, although he did watch it every week. Erik spent 6 years working for Hasbro in Pawtucket, RI before leaving for a job that paid more (Why else would a collector leave the company that was making Star Wars, Transformers, and while I was there Batman). I used to post all over the net. These days I tend to hang my hat at AFI.

SDCC as a Vacation With Convention season upon us, I thought I’d submit this.  I know some of you have seen it before, but we have many new members, who might be contemplating going to SDCC for the first time.  (pic from their official web site: http://www.comic-con.org/cci/ ) In 2005 I thought aboout going to ComicCon…

As a second look at HeroClix, lets take a closer look at one of the pieces I played last night, Dr. Mid-Nite – the Experienced version.  Up until about a year ago, there were 3 versions of most characters made, to show progression throughout the characters long history: Rookie, Experienced, and Veteran.  So, lets start with…

greenlanternguy1pm6.th_.jpg I love HeroClix.  I blogged about my team a bit back.  How about a feature about HeroClix in general?  (all of these pictures come from WizKids, the maker of HeroClix.) http://www.WizKidsGames.com   To me, one of the awesome things about this game is the variety of characters.

The Poll: http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11001 2006 SDCC.  I was struck by certain figures.  Nemesis.  Sand.  Aquaman with two hands.  How had Mattel decided on such odd choices.  Then I remembered the we, the fans, knowing the policy of reusing parts in JLU, had actively discussed Nemesis and Sand as ways to reuse Lex Luthor’s holster.  Mattel had…

I found it today.  Saw it first at SDCC 2006, when I met Boy Wonder, prior manager of Mattel’s DC line.  Never expected it would take a year and a half to find.  And there it was, today, hanging with a complete set of DCUC Wave 2 (left those for someone else).  Superman/Star Sapphire/Sand. There…

Iron Cow is taking pics for AFI officially and his gallery is linked off the news page.  H-Balm was nice enough to show us his pictures in his own gallery.  Check out this thread: http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10921 Awesome job, both of you!

It’s Friday again.  HeroClix tournament night.  And once again, minutes before I have to leave, I’m undecided as to the makeup of my army.  I’ll post up my HeroClix 101 tutorial (its in the All About Toys forum) soon, but for now I’d like to talk about the team I ran this week.  Choosing from…

NYCC.  I started making plans to attend and cover NYCC as soon as we knew Mattel would show more stuff there.  Bus schedules deciphered.  NYCC programing analyzed for best exposure.  Business card and digital camera research were on my list of things to do.  But it was not to happen. A project at work got…
