Erik "Superfriend" Skov
"Gathered together from the four corners of the universe." Oh, wait, that's the show, not me. Erik "SuperFriend" Skov never actually got to appear on the show, although he did watch it every week. Erik spent 6 years working for Hasbro in Pawtucket, RI before leaving for a job that paid more (Why else would a collector leave the company that was making Star Wars, Transformers, and while I was there Batman). I used to post all over the net. These days I tend to hang my hat at AFI.

I know everyone is waiting for SDCC.  While you do, here is a look back at the people I met at NYCC.

This economy has made many of us re-prioritize our spending.  That gave me an idea.  What if you had a tight budget for toys and collectibles?  Could you build a collection 10$ at a time?  What can you get for 10$?

I just linked to an eBay auction about a figure and saw this text in the auction.  I’ve seen it before.  It makes me cringe.  And usually I do not bid. "Seller will LEAVE FEEDBACK in return once Buyers RECEIVED purchased items & LEFT FEEDBACK for Seller. " According to this, feedback for the buyer…

Anime Boston – What is a Super-Hero fan to buy? Saturday.  I had circled the dealer rooms twice.  Only New England Comics display caught my eye.  They had trade paperbacks of their Tick series.  But at NYCC earlier this year I had been able to pick up Showcase volumes for 5$ each.  25$ or more…

I spent last weekend at Anime Boston, a convention for Anime fans.  Like comic conventions, they have panels, people dressed as characters, costume contests, artists signings, dealer rooms, etc.  I hope to cover several aspects of the convention over a series of blogs. One panel we attended was "The Chibi Project."

I just watched the trailer for Superman / Batman: Public Enemies, the next WB/DC Animated movie on the main page of this site.  And I was moved to write.  If you’ve been reading these for a while, you know I have very opinionated views about comics.  Superman/Batman is a series that I highly recommend.

The newest JLU poll is now active here at AFI.  A little bit of history.  I went to SDCC 2006 and was surprised by what was revealed.  Instead of the characters I was hoping for, there were some very odd choices and some odd variants.  Then I remembered.

I know we’ve said it before in the forums, but it bears repeating every so often.  An alternate place to look for – and actually find the toys you are looking for – is at your supermarket.

People have been having an issue with the DCAU and Green Lantern since a GL first appeared in Superman TAS.  I’ve enjoyed it all.

One other thing DC seems to be missing about team books these days is the lineup.  Some lineups are very fluid and change a lot.  Others do not.  When you pick up an issue the Fantastic Four is supposed to be 4 specific characters.  While many teams are more fluid than this, fans expect certain…

Recently, I’ve read two comics where nothing really happened.  Titans 11 and Justice League of America 31.  And I was disappointed.

When I worked at Hasbro, I worked with a variety of people across all departments.  One of my colleagues that I spent a fair amount of time discussing Action figures with was Vinnie D’Alleva.  Its now been about a dozen years since I left.  I tracked down Vinnie and he was kind enough to agree…

Not sure how I missed this.  I’m a huge fan of this style, and feel that every tv series spun out of Batman TAS deserves to be available on DVD.  I’ve been waiting for news of Static Shock for so long, apparently Zeta had completely slipped off and under my radar.

Since I’ve become a member of the Comic / Toy / Cartoon press, I get stuff like this every so often.  I’m going to use the blog to share it with you all. THE LOS ANGELES PROMOTIONAL SCREENING OF SUPER CAPERS

I just feel this announcement has not gotten the press it deserves.

Never.  Never did I expect to see these in plastic.  No way.  That is why their inclusion in the slide show during Mattel’s presentation on Saturday blew me away.  I’ve been a big fan of this line since it began, but this, this just shows me how much they get it.

These are the things that came to mind while I was driving to NYCC yesterday morning. A limo passed me.  Why would someone take a limo to a comic convention?  (of course, everyone on the road was going there!) A Frito Lay potato truck goes by.  They must be made by Frito Lay people.  Frito…
