“Batman Unlimited” Listing at EntertainmentEarth.com UPDATED with “DC Unlimited” Listing.
July 3, 2012

Mattel has had some issues in the past with their Comic Con information leaking out before their reveals at the con… and it may be happening again.   EntertainmentEarth.com has a listing for a new line called “Batman Unlimited” that sounds like the successor to the Batman: Legacy line.   It also sounds like this is how we might get that “Super Powers” deco Penguin we were shown, but has never had a home.  They call them both 6″ and 7″ scale figures in the text below, but the $17.99 price point per individual figure sounds more like 6″.

Batman Unlimited Wave 1 Action Figure Case

  • Batman and his greatest foes and allies through the ages!
  • The legacy of the Dark Knight and his allies and foes are all captured in exquisite detail in this Batman Unlimited action figure line!
  • Articulated and detailed figures with display stand!

This Wave 1 case contains 6 individually packaged 6-inch scale action figures (subject to change):

  • Batgirl New 52
  • Penguin (classic comic)
  • Batman New 52 Redeco

Assortment breakdown not determined at this time. These 7-inch scale action figures draw inspiration from the editorial heritage of the brand (comic style). Each figure is highly detailed and articulated for Batman fans!

Sometimes these sorts of listings mean nothing and it’s just a matter of retailers jumping the gun, like with the Mattel/DCUC Reign of the Supermen line that was taken from a sheet of names just used to gauge retailer interest.   But more often than not they pop up as legit.

Which will this one be?  I bet we’ll find out next week.

Looks like fans have found a second listing for a new “DC Unlimited” figure line also on EntertainmentEarth.com.  This new line looks to replace the canceled “DC All-Stars” line that was to replace DCUC at retail.  This new line is rooted in DC Entertainment’s “New 52” relaunch.

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on MSNBC.com, Time.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, CNN.com, AssociatedPress.com Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
