As usual, Mike Nesmith wasn't on board, just Davy, Mickey, and Peter as a trio. It was the Monkees' 20th anniversary and the year that MTV brought them back for Generation X to discover. Like many other teens of the era, I loved the TV series.

Gotta say I was surprised today. He was the youngest of the four and the first to go. Seems like there was a heart problem that ran in the family since his dad died around the same age.

Anyone remember the Pizza Hut ad with Ringo Starr calling "the lads" to get back together and then
Davy, Mickey, and Peter show up? Ringo goes "wrong lads." That cracked me up at the time, but now the Monkees are also a quartet no longer. :(

Man, in between Don Cornelius on the 1rst and Davy Jones on the 29th, we had Whitney Houston. February sure has sucked for music lovers...

: "(Reuters) - Davy Jones, former lead singer of the 1960s made-for-television pop band The Monkees, died on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack in Florida, according to his longtime publicist. He was 66."
: sad day. :(
