What a difference one day makes.  One glorious day, July 25th…the whole JLU collecting world was turned upside-down.  As I come down from my euphoria, I realize my previous "Finishing the Show" blog is now outdated.  I thought about the few glaring holes in my list due to the wonderous unveilings from Mattel, and I decided to update.  As of today, these are the must-makes to ‘finish’ the JLU line for us hardcore fanatics.  Feel free to rip me a new one based on my choices, but also realize there’s no way I’m wrong.  ;)

Wow…just, wow.  I am blown away.

Never, and I mean *never* in a million years did I think we were going to be blindsided by THIS.

JLU, the line pronounced deader-than-dead by many (including me about one thousand times on the boards) is not only alive and well…but soaring over the planet and smiling.

Not even the last few panels debuting the Hasbro 3-3/4" line and He-Man relaunch could steal the thunder.

Say it with me, fellow fans…41 previously unannounced new figures to collect.  41!!!  Say WHAT???

Just because I’m euphoric, I’ll list them here…

We look ever forward in this hobby.  SDCC is 24 hours away as I write this and, as we do each year, we’ll all be hunched over our monitors hitting Refresh every minute or so on any number of FireFox tabs.   I’m not downing the practice, I’ll be doing it along with everyone else, but I also recently completed a near decade long quest for toys that were never made.

How ’bout are you willin’ to make the commitment, wakin’ up, goin’ okay, it’s gig time, what t-shirt am I gonna wear? Can’t decide, can’t decide . . . brain aneurysm!

-"Rock Your Socks Off" by Tenacious D

For our particular breed of geek a tee shirt collection is almost as prized as our action figure collections. The tee shirts that populate our dresser drawers are carefully chosen. They are laundered with care. They are worn until they literally fall apart. The appropriate tee shirt is carefully selected for each particular engagement. Its like pairing wine to a meal. Well, when that meal happens to be the San Diego Comic Con one must choose carefully which tee shirts to pack!

Here I am, knowing 5 waves of Mattel’s DCUC, and debating.   Do I buy or not.  I saw Black Manta again yesterday.  At 10$ each and in the 6" scale, they look a lot like DCDirect figures to me.  And that’s the problem.

Yes, this is yet another blog entry about Mattel’s soon (but not soon enough) to be released Infinite Heroes toyline.

Back in the early 1990′s Al Gore introduced some legislation about what he termed the Information Superhighway, otherwise known as the Internet, leading to his supposed claim of inventing the internet.

Well in much the same way I, your humble online action figure correspondent, am here to tell you that I created the Infinite Heroes line.

Sort of.

It’s amazing how reading something can call up so many memories all at once.  Pierre’s recent blog about holy grails in collecting immediately called up so much for me…times in my life, emotions I was feeling, and yes…things I was collecting.

My collecting history actually sucks.  I was never motivated to work or finish college, so my jobs were menial and my paychecks small.  Plus I ruined my credit when I was 19, so anything I bought I had to pay cash with.  Couple that with a very immature approach to not paying bills and that adds up to a very strange way to collect.
