I found myself on an errand today which put me farther away from home than usual.  And close to a Target store.  And thus began a toy run unlike I usually make.  You have to understand.  Usually I only go to a store if I am passing by.  I don;t normally go out of my way to go toy shopping.  Yet today, by taking a number of extra turns, I managed to ‘drive by’ 3 Targets, 2 Walmarts, and a Toys R Us.  In Rhode Island.  Your milage may vary.  Here are the highlights in order of the stores visited.

I’m going to talk to you guys more this year.

From late 1992 to early 1996, in what seems like several lifetimes ago now, I worked at Tower Video.  It was intended as a summer job (my first) to fill my days between the last day of high school and the first day of collage.  But, when my major at collage slipped from Literature to Sleeping In My Car In The Parking Lot (which is a story for another post), I left higher education behind and worked full-time at my "summer job" for most of the next five years.

I don’t regret it.

I’ll bet I’m not the only one with fond memories of Underoos. I can’t quite recall which specific sets I had save for this photo of my brother, sister and I decked out for Halloween in Underoo enabled costumes. No, my sister is Wonder Woman. I’m Superman.

Anyway, my mom has never accepted that I’ve grown up (probably because I haven’t given her any reason to) and she still likes to "support my hobby" when she gets me a gift. Its not easy to buy for us collectors but she really nailed it with these suckers . . .
