I missed this week”s episode of Young Justice, but two weeks ago, they ran one that blew my mind.

Why?  Because of all the characters that made an appearance in the episode “Revelaqtion”.   I think at this point, enough time has passed that I can write this without spoilers.

#1. The Secret Society of Super Villains.  Batman gives the team of villains which announce themselves this classic name.  7 new villians who have not previously appeared on the show.

While I was at NYCC, I spent some time at the DC Direct booth asking questions about their upcoming product.  Here is my brief interview with them.

1. What is new at today’s show?

a) Hawkman: JLA figure.
b) Hawkgirl II: Ami-Comi statue.
c) Joker: Batman Black and White statue.
d) Joker: Arkham City figure.
e) Green Lantern Animated inspired statues: Green Lantern – Hal Jordan, Red Lantern – Atrocitus, Blue Lantern – Saint Walker.

2. The new Arkham City wave has only 3 figures.  Will this be the future of DC Direct, 3 figure waves? (more…)

On the heels of our last entry into the Action Figure Observer’s Field Guide we now focus our microscopes on one particular specimen from Phylum: DC / Class: Little Plastic People. Homo hominis plasticus (Plastic Man) is a difficult subject to observe based on the fact that his physical characteristics are ever changing. I’ve attempted to catalog all figural representations of homo hominis plasticus that have existed since that vat of Crawford chemicals became an evolutionary catalyst for Eel O’Brian. But who is to say whether or not the DC Direct Alex Ross Justice Plastic Man isn’t just impersonating the Justice League Unlimited Plastic Man? We’ll never know. (more…)

It takes some guts for a dude to walk out of his home wearing yellow sneakers. Trust me, I’ve done it. Its one of those situations where the image in your head is a lot cooler than the actual execution. Perhaps it would have translated better if I had accessorized with either yellow nunchucks, an Nth metal mace, or a Hattori Hanzo sword. Or perhaps I should have just realized that it is a very special club that gets to don … the yellow track suit. (more…)

Boldly Go Where No Clix Have Gone Before!

Greetings HeroClix fans!

Today we are very pleased to announce the expansion of our Star Trek offerings with the release of Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics!

Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics puts you in command of Federation and Klingon vessels and is 100% compatible with the HeroClix core rules system.  Tactics is intended as a standalone game system and will exist outside of the Modern and Golden Age tournament environments. What this mean is Tactics operates by the same rules and Powers and Abilities card that your standard HeroClix game is played with, but is meant to be played as its own game.

Tactics features more than 20 pre-painted ships from both the Federation and Klingon affiliations and will be available for sale in both a 4-Ship starter product and single figure boosters.  For more details, please refer to our Retailers Downloads section.

Editorial: This is so cool.  These ships just mean it is only a matter of time until we get the Batmobile and X-Jet into the HeroClix game!

Savage OpressWhile reading some recent store report posts on another collecting site, I noticed some disturbing comments. Someone had failed to find what he was searching for in a toy aisle, but he noticed another man in the section with multiples of the figures he wanted in his cart. He asked the other fellow if he could have one of them, and his request was denied. Another collector responded by saying he would have simply taken what he wanted and dared the guy to “hit” him. To quote Obi-Wan Kenobi, So uncivilized. This deteriorated into the usual anti-”scalper” ranting, coupled with more Internet Tough Guy bravado. Another insisted he would have initiated a confrontation with the “scalper” so his child could get the toy instead. I’d imagine setting a good example for that child would be a more worthwhile gift, but perhaps that’s unreasonable of me. The sense of entitlement was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I always believed people were supposed to grow out of, “It should be mine here and now just because I want it,” before entering adulthood, but it seems to be a permanent frame of mind all too often these days. As I was reading this nonsense, I couldn’t help feeling a sense of appreciation for the “scalpers” in this hobby.

“I now hold omnipotence. What should I do with such almighty power? The answer to that is actually quite simple: Anything I want.

Anything. I am incapable of error. Any result that displeases me I can simply reverse. There is nothing I need to worry on, for I am Thanos. And Thanos is supreme. Supreme.”

This past Wednesday concluded the first month of DC Comics revamp of their universe.  While some concepts were pretty much left as is (Batman and Green Lantern), most were revised or restarted completely.  Along with this came many costume changes.

Justice League 1 comic cover

Justice League is now the front and center comic it should have been (and used to be).  This is also translating into the action figure world.  The first figures relating to the new DC universe will be based upon the new Justice League comic.  DC Direct revealed some of these at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) earlier this year.
