<p><font size="3" face="Arial">Even though I was resistant at first to leave behind my beloved&nbsp;TNBA figures as a customizing&nbsp;base &#8211; finding parts was becoming harder and more expensive &#8211; I eventually made the logical transition to JLU figures. </font></p>
<p><font size="3" face="Arial">I&#8217;ve come to appreciate the JLU figures not just for their simplicity, but also for the very wide selection in head, limb and body parts available. </font></p>
<p><font size="3" face="Arial">Partially fuelled by the need to catalog parts for the upcoming <em><strong>AFI repaint contest</strong></em>, I&#8217;ve put together this visual guide to help stimulate ideas. </font></p>

<p>The stalwart lines of Marvel, DC, Star Wars and&nbsp;GI Joe&nbsp;are offering unprescidented character selection and excellent quality figures and vehicles. Old favorites like Megos and Captain Action&nbsp;are getting another chance at getting on the market. Every major genre movie this summer like Dark Knight, Iron Man, Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones has toy representation. Video games like The Force Unleashed,&nbsp;Halo and Metal Gear are getting figures based on their characters. Even shows and comics&nbsp;that would have never got a second look in the past by toy companies like the Goon and Aqua Teen Hunger Force are being turned into figures. </p>
<p>Despite all of this, there are two current licenses that&nbsp;continue to go without action figure representation (and it mystifies me):</p>

<p align="left"><font size="2">Since the one thing I know more about than toys is comics, I thought I&#8217;d combine my love of the two and give you a brief <strong>&quot;who&#8217;s who&quot;</strong> on some of my (and yours if you request them) favorite action figure characters including their appearances in print and plastic form. OK, enough blabbing, of we go!</font></p>
<p align="left">Besides having the <a title="" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaSnCK3g498&amp;feature=related">coolest voice on the Superfriends,</a> <strong>Black Manta</strong> has had the destinction of being a) being the only Aquaman villain made into an action&nbsp;figure and b) being&nbsp;the first baby-killer in comics.</p>
