Yesterday President Obama observed Memorial Day in the tradition of sitting U.S. presidents, by placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery just outside Washington, D.C. Before the ceremony, a number of university professors petitioned the White House, urging Obama “to end a longstanding practice …

Wow, this was a fun job this time. Can you feel my sarcasm? It seems the gods of Lost or the gods of weather are not happy with Oklahoma of late. For the last three weeks every Thursday night we’ve had severe weather that has threated the airing of the program. Last Thursday, we had tornadoes and all regular programming was preempted. Understandable. In the vast scheme of things, LOST pales in importance to safety. BUT, where as the NBC and CBS affiliates announced rebroadcasting in the course of the weather coverage, our ABC station said that they had to clear it with ABC in New York. ?!?! Our recourse was to watch the episode on our computers. So, a huge throng rioted and flooded the station with emails of protest. Tonight, at 11:PM, the show will be rebroadcast. But, I went ahead and watched the program on the computer and here is my latest recap of the show for those of you interested. As always, this is a SPOILER ALERT in case you have not seen the show yet. Enjoy…

Finally, the show that demonstrates that I am nothing more than a Lemming running towards the cliff returns. Thank the TV gods! But I’m not really going to talk about the upcoming episode. No. Instead I’m going to share some of my brilliant insight on a hot button topic on LOST, namely who’s eye was it that Hurley saw when he looked in the window of that creepy cabin. I think I’ve finally figured it out… The eye is Walt Disney’s!

My daughter-in-law, Shannon, ships out a week from today for her second tour of duty in Iraq. She will be gone for 15 months. She is a medic with the 101st out of Fort Campbell in Kentucky and I cannot express my pride and respect that I have for her. …

Boy howdy! I’m as excited as Jessie, Bullseye and Prospector Pete when Sheriff Woody showed up! After seeing the first pictures from New York Comic Convention and then reading Cantania Dan’s Blog I though I should do a back flip for joy! Unfortunately, Medicaid doesn’t cover such …

It appears that Captain Action will be returning as an action figure again! Most of you probably only vaguely remember him. But, being the old fart that I am, I have fond memories of the good Captain. Ideal came out with the Captain Action doll/action figure and his sidekick, Action Boy in direct competition to Hasbro’s G.I. Joe. Where GI Joe was a true American Hero, complete with his fuzzy hair Ken hair, Captain Action became a quick-change artist tossing his cool costume, sword and ray-gun aside and donning the duds of Captain America or Superman or Batman or Spiderman or Flash Gordon or The Phantom or a closet full of other really real super heroes. Not just some dog face in fatigues.

I’m sitting here switching between a Yankees/Red Socks game and the movie Big and thinking about the movie even as I watch the game. Was Josh the luckiest kid on the planet when he was changed into an adult? I suppose people could write dissertations for their doctorates on the issue. But I know that if, by some miracle, I was in his place I would NEVER have tracked down that machine and gone back.
