Mattel’s latest DC Universe retail offerings have begun to show up on the shelves of brick & mortar and specialty shops nationwide. Here are the most recent releases!
DC Unlimited
Current case pack outs deliver 3 X Superman, 2 X Flash, and 1 Hawkman per case, all are New 52 versions of the characters.
The Flash
All lightning effects are removeable.
Superman
A metallic repaint of the previous and hard-to-find All Star release.
Hawkman
A really nice reuse of the original’s buck, with several new parts, and lots of attitude.
Batman Unlimited
The first three figures have hit big box brick & mortar, while the second two have hit specialty shops.
Current case packout is 3 X Batman, 2 X Penguin, and 1 Batgirl per case.
Batman (New 52 Version)
A metallic repaint of the previous and hard-to-find All Star release.
Penguin (Super Powers Version)
The long-awaited released of the Super Powers version. Features a newly sculpted head and torso details.
Batgirl (New 52 Version)
Features a mostly new sculpt, with what appears to be a reused head from previous versions. Has Hasbro style elbow articulation. Batarang not included.
Planet X Batman
A clever mix of old & new parts, he also includes a baseball bat and Bat Mite, who features a new paint scheme and all-new head sculpt. Currently only showing up at specialty shops.
Dark Knight Returns Batman
The one we’ve all been waiting for. This version of Frank Miller’s seminal Batman storyline reuses several parts from their MOTUC He-Man buck. Includes an all-new batarang taken from the pages of the book. Currently shipping to specialty shops, he is not surprisingly selling out in record time.

I really like some of the new designs, especially Hawkman, but at the current prices, I am unwilling to buy most characters. If I have a good version of the character already, I want to save my money to get a new character.

Recent purchase was DC Direct’s Batman Inc – Man of Bats figure. I wish they would revisit that group of characters and release more members.
Got Batgirl and Hawkman from this line. That’ll be it until I see a Wonder Woman, Aquaman and probably Damian at retail.
I will never be able to find any of the good Batmans (You know which ones). Thanks Mattel for your crappy ratios and bias shipping.

Batgirl’s head is all new- it is similar to the older one, but her eyes, the mask sculpt, the hair sculpt and even the fullness of the face indicates that the figure is an all-new sculpt all around.
love how the upgrade of the super powers penquin turned out.plus love that the dkr has gotten some love again even though the character is still bulky . plus could have done with out batmite

I’m always happy to see new DC figures come out. I’ve picked up the whole set minus Batgirl which I just passed over when I saw 2 penguins.
Has anyone else had a hard time picking up a perfect flash? I passed 3 times because the boots had rough paint jobs. Of course as collector roulette goes the one I picked up with good paint had 2 left feet.
Plus I’m a Superfan myself so I picked up a few of the Metallic Supes… 2 out of 3 twisted ankles… Geez These dynamic poses are killing my toy shelf.

I haven’t been to any regular retail stores this past week, so I just picked up the Penguin figure at my LCS. Sure, it was probably at a higher price point, but oh well.
Was the all blue headed Batman (posed with Planet X Batman) a custom?
No, POW!, that’s the repaint Batman that comes in the mostly unreleased two-pack with the red redeco of Azreal-Bats.
Hmmm… that’s odd because I’ve not seen one of those that didn’t have the rip across the bat symbol on his chest.
