Marvel Comics recently launched their Marvel NOW re-branding (“it’s not a reboot!”) of their publishing efforts. Being a pretty dyed-in-the-wool trade-waiter I’ve not read any of these yet. However, thanks to various online comics sites such as Newsarama and Comic Book Resources I’ve seen many of the new looks that the various Marvel characters are sporting. Some are terrific, while some are scratch-your-head, “what in the world are they thinking?” bad…and, frankly, most important to me, many would make great toys!
As I mentioned in my last blog, whereupon I mused about the upcoming Toy Fair event to be held in February, I’m not sure what to expect from Hasbro this year, specifically in terms of the 3-3/4″ Marvel Universe line. Product delays from the last year or two coupled with personnel layoffs and creative staff changes aren’t very encouraging when thinking about the future of one of my favorite toy lines.
However, that being said, should we be graced with new Marvel Universe figures in 2013 I do hope that we can see some of these new character designs show up as figures. Sure, there’s still about a gazillion classic characters to be done…but, I think it’d be cool to work in some of the current looks here and there.
But, that’s just me. What do you think?
As long as they stay away from Cyclops’ new look, it might be cool.
But I’d rather have more of the classic universe.
I think the best Marvel Now title is Thor: God of Thunder. I would love to see one or all three Thor looks, especially Old King Thor.
This is. My favorite line i think that’s a awesome idea a wave of 6 should include 3 new characters and 3 classic right now I just want them to stop making so many spiderman and captain America finish up alpha flight add AOA sunfire I’ve seen so much customs I want more variety.
I’m kinda digging the whole marvel now! thing. Hopefully, hasbro will get its act together and surprise us with some long hair Cap and superior Spidey figs.

Vision rerelease, Man-Ape would be a great figure. Grim Reaper. Black Knight. Swordsman.
Yeah, we need black cat, sandman, vulture, silver sable, and the jackal never got a figure in his lifetime!!!
no doubt marvel will proably have hasbro do at least the big guns in their marvel now look. but also hopefully continue to do classic characters who still have yet to get any figure loving at all. and spider man will proably be the first in his marvel now look. we just have to wait till hasbro reveals at toy fair
I’d like to see a new Cap,Superior Spidey,and Havok.But I would also like to see classics like Grim Reaper,Vision update (cyclops buck),and Red Skull.
Yeah, I don’t to pay over $100 for that crappy vision figure, we need a new one now!
