It's always neat to read about a change of life story and yours is no exception. Everything I've collected back to my Playmobil days was either given away due to multiple moves or sold off out of financial necessity. If I'd kept it all, I'd have no regrets but would likely be crowded out into the streets. The only things I won't miss are all the modern comics I've foolishly bought over the last two decades.

Congrats on losing those 60 pounds most of all! Wish I could follow suit myself. I'm also envious of that chair of yours since mine is wrecking havoc with my back. Good luck with your writing also. I had a growth spurt brain wise back in my mid-20's and cranked out a forty-something page long stage play out of the blue. I wanted to be O'Neill all of a sudden but the muse died out, so be sure and stick to your guns this time around.

I totally get it too...when I was in my mid-20's I was going MAD MAD MAD looking for every singel ToyBiz Marvel and SPAWN variants that I didn't care if I was spiraling into debt to obtain them...

Then in my 30's, I got married, but still made the routes to search for figures and related collectibles...

Then somewhere between kids and my late 30's, the toys just didn't seem that important in my life anymore and before I knew it I was selling off my MINT ON MINT CARD Hulk action figure collection like it wasn't the end of the world...

Now, I still browse the toy section, but rarely do I pick up anything...well, maybe the stuff my little boy wants.. :)

All to say is, I get ya' and your journey took you down a different path than mine. And congratualtions on losing the weight - that is a BIG DEAL...I'm still wondering when I'll get around to dropping my own...

I still love hearing about action figures, comics and such - that'll never go away....I just now have more room, and a new outlook on things that'll carry me through....

I totally see where your coming from. I find I'm less into buying new figures other than those of the lines I'm already heavily invested in, and I do feel that having to have most of my collection still in storage due to not having enough room to display it feels like a waste.

I hope to move to a bigger place in a year or so and when I do I'll get most of my collection out of boxes and set it up. But I reckon when I do that, there will be quite a bit that I realize I don't want anymore and will get rid of. And yeah, buying toys was a way of filling gaps in my life too, but as my life's moved on, it doesn't seem as important now.

I totally get it. I think people just go through phases in life.

I bought 1 of each of the main characters for the Star Wars prequels and then I got all the Jedi council and now they are in a plastic tote waiting for the day I bother to do something with them, like eBay or just hand them to a resale shop.

Mind you, I still have my Fetts. Those I like having around.
Same with my comic book movies memorabilia.

But buying everything figure under the sun isn't as interesting to me, especially if I want to buy an autographed comic book or something. Collecting figures was fun and a good part of my life but now I do other stuff.

Maybe i should thank the recession, but I have realized all those figures add up ;)

And Noir movies are cool, I've seen my share of Bogart movies but usually I watch old BW SciFi if I'm in a mood for vintage. There was a time my sister and I tried to go through AFI's 100 best films list for something to do all summer.
