Back when wave 18 of Mattel’s DC Universe Classics line was announced I was very excited. I loved those old Super Friends shows. My internet name, “superfriend” is taken from it. And now we were getting figures. The problem was that the price had recently gone up. They were now 16$ each.

I had no interest in Capt Boomerang or Bronze Tiger, but I wanted the other 4. In order to keep the cost down, I bought them on line for an average of 11$ each, shipping included. But without the Apache Chief parts. I figured I would pick them up later.

Flash forward to NYCC 2012. Taking pictures for AFi, I walked the floor and found a vendor with a complete Apache Chief. 65$. The next booth had one also. 60$ for that one. 60$ to 65$ would have been about the cost of the 4 figures I had bought to begin with at retail price.

I had saved 5$ per figure only to now need 3x the amount I saved in order to buy the pieces I had given up earlier. Needless to say, I did not buy it. Penny wise, dollar foolish, and no Apache Chief in any near future for one “superfriend”.

sorry you did not wind up with apache chief whole in the end. and thus your super friends will be minus one but at least you stayed true to what you were wiling to spend even if it ment an empty space in a super friend display

I’ve seen Buy It Nows on eBay for Apache Chief at like $28. Still more than you saved, but sure beats $60.

I think you can find Apache Chief on eBay cheaper these days, I’ll keep an eye open for you.
Actually, I had not looked for him since then. Thanks for the suggestions of acquiring AC now via eBay.
I found this wave recently at a Rose’s department store chain.They had the whole series for only five dollars each.That means I was able to have a complete Apache Chiedf for only $30.00.
You can get this dirt cheap now because no one wanted these in the first place. Good luck.
