There have been multiple versions of the same character available since the game started in 2002. Most people do not generally use them in the same game, but it is perfectly legal.

For NON comic book fans? This I have to disagree with. Only comic book fans would be willing to spend money on blind boxed items which could include anyone from Batman and Spider-man to multiple versions of virtually unheard of characters like Magog and the Black Knight. I know without the comic background I would not be playing and collecting this game.
