I have been out of town for the past ten days, but wanted to share something very cool that happened on the eve of the recent Memorial Day weekend…as many of you know, I am a huge supporter of the Colorado Freedom Memorial. To recap, this would be the first monument in America to honor all local veterans of all wars, by name, in one place. You can read more about the details, and the numerous setbacks that have occurred HERE.
On May 25th, my good pal and mastermind behind this project, Rick Crandall, held the annual KEZW radiothon fundraiser for the CFM. It went well, but the project still needed to raise at least $400k to start building. We weren’t quite there, but then something amazing happened.
As the event was getting close to wrapping up for the day, they received a surprise call from an anonymous couple that were touched by what they heard, and pledged to make up the difference between what was raised and the $400k goal. A Miracle!
After 12 long years, the project is finally a reality.

It was quite an emotional moment, as you can imagine. You can hear the live announcement on the KEZW Page (scroll down a bit). I gotta be honest, I just sat for a moment and the eyes burned a little, taking in the relief and the reality and just being overjoyed for my friend who never gave up, even when things looked grim. Quite a long and exhausting road it has been for everyone involved, filled with sacrifices and many ups-and-downs for Rick and his family. But the wheels are finally in motion to break ground for construction, and it occurred right before Memorial Day, too.
I continue to be amazed and humbled by the generosity shown by complete strangers to support this worthy cause, and it reminds us all that good, kind, generous people do still exist out there.
But now, more than ever, the CFM your help. We are on our way, certainly, but you can continue to help the Colorado Freedom Memorial and invite people you know to sign up for the newsletter, or become a fan of the facebook page – Colorado Freedom Memorial – or even just help spread the word to others in conversation. We will take any help we can get!
Thank you for your continued support!!!

that is nice after so much work. the secret couple should be really proud of bringing to reality a new way to honor our good military men and woman.
