Original Style Packaging for “Long Lost” Collectible

New York, N.Y. (March 16, 2016): Captain Action Enterprises, LLC is proud to reveal MEDICOM TOY CORPORATION’s packaging for the long-lost Ultraman outfit.

The innovative packaging is retro-styled and very evocative of the original sixties line of Captain Action superhero costume sets Action.  For collectors, this new Ultraman outfit will display well either in the package or out of the package, on the Captain Action figure.

As previously revealed, the Ultraman set was originally planned to be a part of the popular super-hero line of costume sets used in conjunction with the iconic 12” (30 cm) Captain Action figure. An image of this outfit was shown only once in Shonen (a comic magazine) in the 1960s and was designed to be a contest prize for the readers

This new Ultraman outfit is part of the many 50th Anniversary plans scheduled for the Captain Action line throughout the year.

Limited shipping and sales within Japan are planned for June 2016.

“We are very excited to see Captain Action’s “lost ” uniform set come to life as a part of our 50th Anniversary celebration!” said Joe Ahearn of Captain Action Enterprises.

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on,, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post,,,, Boing-Boing,, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.

Good to see something, anything, new finally be produced by CAE (Captain Action Enterprises) for the 12″ Captain Action line after 3 years since the last releases. From the article, I can’t really tell if the Ultraman set will only be sold in Japan or also sold in the U.S. – (I suppose some U.S. retailers will have them at marked up imported prices.) Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be much to this release other than the mask and a costume. The lack of boots or interchangeable gloved hands hurts the value. The sewn mittens looks silly to me. The retro box packaging is sweet – I would have preferred the backside to feature the classic grid with the past costumed characters that CAE previously released along with the added photo of Ultraman. It’s a shame that CAE could not produce the Superman & Batman costumes that they announced ages ago in time to capitalize on the new movie – a real missed marketing opportunity. Perhaps CAE can get Medicom to continue to help them. Also, the Captain website seems to be down for the past several weeks. C’mon CAE, get your act together – don’t drop the ball on our childhood buddy, Captain Action.
