Choosing My HeroClix Team
April 18, 2008

It’s Friday again.  HeroClix tournament night.  And once again, minutes before I have to leave, I’m undecided as to the makeup of my army.  I’ll post up my HeroClix 101 tutorial (its in the All About Toys forum) soon, but for now I’d like to talk about the team I ran this week.  Choosing from between hundreds of figures, and yes there are hundreds, maybe thousands at this point, is difficult.  Some characters you love, some you feel obligated to play as part of some theme.  Some you will never play because they are aweful pieces, some cause you hate the characters.  With that in mind, this week I chose the grown up Titans. Here are some pics to give you some ideas of the powers these pieces bring to the game.

So, how did I do?

Round 1 – won vs Sinestro, Star Sapphire, Trickster/Pied Piper, Icicle, Hive Agent.

Round 2 – lost vs Darksied, Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), Dawnstar(LSH), Karate Kid(LSH), the Chief (Doom Patrol).

Round 3 – won vs Flash(Barry Allen), Zaxx, Green Arrow (Oliver Queen), young Kid Flash(Wally West), young Wonder Girl (Donna Troy).

Score: 2-1.  I enjoyed playing this team.

"Gathered together from the four corners of the universe." Oh, wait, that's the show, not me. Erik "SuperFriend" Skov never actually got to appear on the show, although he did watch it every week. Erik spent 6 years working for Hasbro in Pawtucket, RI before leaving for a job that paid more (Why else would a collector leave the company that was making Star Wars, Transformers, and while I was there Batman). I used to post all over the net. These days I tend to hang my hat at AFI.

You win just because you played more truly themed team than all those other opponents.

    Good job!

  • Danny CantinaDan says:

Hey Erik – Thanks for post this, and please do repost your HeroClix 101. I haven’t gotten into HeroClix but have been curious. Looks fun! And congrats on your wins:)

(Does this give me an excuse to blog about Yu Gi Oh!?)

  • John Jones says:

Man, I wouldn’t have expected the older TT group to do that well. I love the theme though, and they certainly are better than most ‘teams’ out there now. Congrats on your wins. 😉

Btw, what feats did you use, and on who? I might try them out some time for fun. 🙂

  • Erik superfriend says:

I decided to leave them out for now, kind of build up the game for people who don’t know it. In brief, feats are extra power effects you can assign to your characters for extra points. At 79 +114 +116 +94 +73 for the figures, that does not a lot of points left for feats in a 500 point game. 500 – 476 = 24.

Not sure exactly what I used. I think I’ll highlight some possibilities in a future blog.
