AFI - Custom Showcase

Young Superman - DC Superheroes Superman body and a DC Direct Infinite Crisis Earth Prime Superboy head. Lightning Lad - DCUC Detective Batman body w/ a DC Direct Identity Crisis Elongated Man head.

Apache Chief here uses a 12″ DCSH Superman as a base. Waxed thread makes for the vest and boot stitches and leather cording makes the headband and the moccasin-tops. The rest is just paint and Magic Sculpt.

Growing up watching Superfriends, it’s easy for me to initially consider Hal Jordan as THE Green Lantern; so when Cartoon Network opted to use John Stewart in the new show, it was natural for me to have strong opinion against their choice.

Batman by Dr Nightmare

Batman here was a fun break from all the sculpting and grinding I’ve been doing lately. A simple repaint of the DCUC Detective Batman, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mattel released him like this later on, it’s the perfect Animated Series version, even the belt is almost the same as in those cartoons. I loved that show, I just had to quench the nostalgia.

This set of figures depicts the trial of General Zod and his accomplices, Ursa and Non, on Krypton. Jor El is passing judgment on the accused and they are soon to be banished to the Phantom Zone.

Batman by Buzzy Fret

My all time favorite superhero. So I wanted to make one for my shelf that incorporated all that I liked about him. I guess you could say this is a Lee-Wagner-Miller look.

Nightwing by AREZ

June 29th, 2008

This NIGHTWING custom is totally inspired on the new DCUC series 3 figures that I hope to get as soon as they hit New York.

Base: Face-Off Punisher; Head: Batman (Batman: Hush); Cape, Feet/Boots: Mattle Batman; Belt: DCSH Batman

Corsair by Buzzy Fret

June 29th, 2008

Corsair of the Starjammers (Cyclops’ Space Pirate Daddy) was made from DCUC Black Manta body, DCUC Classic Aquaman head, DCUC Red Tornado glove cuffs.

The Golden Age Hourman custom figure originally began as a DCUC Black Manta. I popped off Manta’s helmet and neckguard, and added in a replacement head from a DCUC Superman Blue. The cape is taken from a DC Direct JSA Modern Hourman figure, along with his hourglass accessory and part of the costume’s hood.
