DC Direct Solicitations for Items In Stores April 2011

Here are the latest and greatest solicitations from the good people at DC Direct.  These products will appear and be available to preorder in the next issue of Diamond’s Previews at your local comic book shop.   All products listed below are scheduled to to ship and be in stores March 2011.

For those of you not familiar with Eddie Wires more recent work, you can see several examples of his paint masters in the Brightest Day figures, the Orange Lantern and ring prop replica set and several of the busts shown.

Award-winning sculptor Tim Bruckner has transformed his original designs of the most recognizable DC heroes into some of the most outstanding, upscale statues DC Direct has ever produced. Each statue features a base that captures the character’s interaction with the surrounding environment.

In this seventh statue in the series, Sinestro rides the swirling yellow waves of fear, seeping into every pore, spreading terror in a cloud of dread.

Each month in 2011, DC Direct releases a mini-bust featuring a character from the hugely popular DC Comics’ epic BLACKEST NIGHT.

Larfleeze continues the HEROES OF THE DC UNIVERSE: BLACKEST NIGHT bust line! The sculpture features Larfleeze atop a special base that displays the spectrum of Lantern symbols.  

The bust is hand-painted, cold-cast in porcelain, measures approximately 5.75” high x 3.5” wide x 3.5” deep and is packaged in a 4-color box.

The Power Battery measures approximately 2.875” high (minus handle) x 1.75” wide x 2.375” deep and is made of PVC/ABS. The Power Ring fits most sizes and lights up when worn. The translucent orange acrylic display measures approximately 1.5” high x  2” wide x  3.25” deep.

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field.
