Exclusive Action Figures From The Big Lebowski & Showtime’s Dexter Help Make Bif Bang Pow! A True Comic-Con Hero!
July 21, 2008

HOLLYWOOD, CA., JULY 16, 2008 – The brainchild of producer and actor Jason Lenzi, Bif Bang Pow! – which enjoys exclusive distribution through Entertainment Earth – has in a few short years become nothing less than a superhero within the action figures and collectibles universe. And nowhere will this little company’s big-time accomplishments be more in evidence than at Comic-Con 2008, during which Bif Bang Pow! and Entertainment Earth will showcase their decidedly unique cast of product stars at booth #2343.

Thanks to the visionary leadership and tireless energy of Lenzi and Entertainment Earth’s president and co-founder Jason Labowitz, Bif Bang Pow! has managed to land exclusive licensing agreements worthy of a toy manufacturing behemoth instead of a short-staffed start-up. Most prominent among these are:

  • The Big Lebowski: Bif Bang Pow! in 2006 signed an agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to create collectible action figures based on the 1998 hit film that has clearly emerged as a cult and popular favorite (especially as it marks its 10th anniversary this year). Bif Bang Pow! offers bobble heads and 7-inch scale action figures of The Dude (Jeff Bridges), Walter (John Goodman), and more… all of which will of course be on display during Comic-Con.

  • Dexter: To give fans of the Emmy-nominated Showtime series another way to show their love, Bif Bang Pow! has created exclusive Dexter bobble heads of the so-called "good guy" (played by Michael C. Hall) in a blood-stained blue shirt and jeans. Standing 7-inches tall, the resin wobbler is produced in a limited edition of 1,008 pieces.

  • Alex Ross / Flash Gordon: Comic-Con fans will have the chance to pick up a copy of Bif Bang Pow!/EE’s Comic-Con Exclusive "Flash Gordon Action Figures: The Art of Alex Ross" Sketchbook free with the purchase of a brand-new Flash Gordon action figure in his iconic white t-shirt. A limited number of the sketchbooks will be signed by Alex himself.

As a sign of Bif Bang Pow!’s stunningly rapid ascent to the top of the action figure and collectibles industry, Jason Lenzi has been invited to join a Comic-Con panel entitled “Action Figure Insider: Plastically Incorrect” taking place at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, July 26. During the event, Lenzi will be the only independent panelist amid a group of eight executives affiliated with major international toy companies.

In addition, the two Jasons will be among the specially invited during the Showtime/Marc Ecko party on Thursday night celebrating Dexter and its licensees, and will be guests at The Wrath of Con party held at the Hard Rock Hotel across from the convention center on Saturday night.

Moreover, the Entertainment Earth booth will host a revolving door of compelling celebrity guests during the convention, including Dexter star Julie Benz, mixed martial arts legend and heavyweight champion Randy Couture, feature film Flash Gordon (1980) star Sam J. Jones, and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. (Please visit www.entertainmentearth.com for appearance schedules.)

“It’s a geek’s world!” says Jason Lenzi. “The people who have supported us at Bif Bang Pow! are the same people who make Comic-Con such a milestone event every year and who in great part are determining the direction the entertainment industry as a whole is taking in the 21st Century. Jason Labowitz and I are deeply grateful to our business partners and to our fans for their loyal support, and we look forward to unveiling many more unique and exclusive products over the years to come.”

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on MSNBC.com, Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
