A Closer look at NEW Batman DC Super Heroes Wave from Mattel
A few weeks back some images from overseas leaked
out from someone finding a carded sample of the latest Mattel
6" DC Super Heroes line. The card back and side chips were
shown and there has been a lot of speculation about a few of the
figures. This next wave should be hitting stores around the end
of the month. We're pleased to be able to bring you a closer look
of the new wave as part of our 2nd Anniversary.

heroes and villains (I have no idea where my Scarecrow figure

The card back
  
The
Modern Batgirl uses the same body sculpt as the Classic Batgirl
figure released last year. She has a new head and new belt. It's
amazing what a good paint job will do because it doesn't feel
like the same figure. She has silver hi-lights on the black costume,
and she comes with one batarang.
  
 
Her diorama is of the Batcave.
 
Comparison
with the classic Batgirl and the DC Direct Batgirl.
  
 
Camo Bane is the same sculpt as the previous Bane,
with a new paint deco. He comes with his teddy bear Osito, which
was only available as part of the "chase" version of
the last Bane.
 
 
Knight Shadow Batman has been the figure that a
lot of collectors have been asking about. He is a black and gray
repaint of the wave 3 Batman. He has a new head with a faceless
mask, and silver highlights. This Batman also has gloss black
boots and gloves that look really cool. While it is the exact
same sculpt, this paint job seems to bring out a lot more detail
in the original sculpt. Things like stitching and wrinkles are
much more apparent. He comes with three bat-a-rangs. There is
a slit in one hand so he can hold them.
Night Shadow Batman may not be a necessary repaint,
but he is a pretty cool one and he makes a good companion to the
modern Batgirl.
  
Night Shadow Batman's diorama is the Gotham
skyline under a full moon.
 
I believe it was WizardWorld
LA 2006 where we first saw the 2-up of 2-Face. He was long
overdue at that time as we had never gotten a 6" Harvey Dent.
Even now the only DC Direct Two-Face is a highly stylized Tim
Sale version.
This is the Four
Horsemen's version of Two-Face, and he looks great. He fits
in well with the other Bat-Villians in this line.. but he makes
the Joker from the old Batman line look pretty shrimpy. (*Psssst*--
Hey Mattel, we're due for a new Joker in this line!)
This is the same body as the Clark Kent figure we
got last year in the Target Superman 2-packs. He comes with a
tommy gun that he holds well and the card board diorama.

I'd love to see Mattel do a repaint of this Two-Face
with his 70/80s look with the half purple/half orange suit and
the green scarred face and hand. Jason actually made a mock-up
of what I'm talking about in Photoshop. I think you'll agree this
is a variation we need!
