I have most of the Dapol figs and the less said about most of them, the better. The Daleks were Joe-scale so all was not lost.

Oooh! Speaking of good old Dapol, I just lucked out on an ebay lot.

Baker, Pertwee AND TROUGHTON all in one auction for about $20!

Yeah, I know, they're monstrosities, but the Troughton is so rare! Sure it's just a solid one piece statue, but he's one of my Favorite Doctors!

And it's one of those crappy toys that you can't help but love!

See, it's funny you mention that, Spy! I was home visiting my folks about 4 years back, and dug out all my Star Wars figures. Turns out I was something like 8 figures short of the entire set, so gradually, every now and then, I would buy a figure I needed off eBay.

Every now and then, I'd splurge and buy a 3 3/4" figure that might "pass" for a vintage Star Wars figure (like Twikki from the Buck Rogers TV series or Muffit from Battlestar Galactica).

I kept searching for a good Dapol lot on ebay, but only came across MOC individual figures. I've got the 4th and 7th Docs on the card, and I can tell they're awful, but I have a loose K-9 that isn't bad.

Still, though, to this day, I've never seen a group shot of the entire collection. I've got a pretty good idea of the characters that were made, but still... I'd love to see 'em all in one photo (or website).

Anyway, congrats on the auction! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for more.

Matt,
the Sontaran has THREE fingers? LYNX, right?

CyberMen: are these the FA Cybermen? from back in the good old B/W days?

Doctor: must be sunny out, as Sly doesn't have his umbrella!
or hasn't he run into Dorothy, yet, eh?

Seriously, GREAT customs!
Need a Leela? won't have to do much work if you use the chick from Tim Burton's 'Planet of the Apes'!
(aka Tim's then-gf, Estella Warren)

I bought the Time Lords figure lot from Previews a while back, but haven't really had the opportunity (or $$) to buy much else.
Would have REALLY loved to grab that TARDIS console set with Sly and Mel; TARDIS Police Box set; and K-9 back...90-91? when local PBS station held a "TARDIScon". got to meet Sophie Aldred/Ace, John Levine/K-9, and...was it Yates or BENTON? whichever actor had to change his name over here to perform. I *did* get a "Hard Rock: Gallifrey" T-shirt, tho! LOL!

Didn't Previews offer that Police Box dvd case last year? TOO rich for my wallet, sad to say.

and WHERE is the new "Doctor Who" series aring in US??? (actually, I didn't know it even aired in UK yet!)
I haven't seen it on local PBS (KETC) or BBCAmerica listings.
I don't suppose SciFi will pick it up OR air the classic series again? :?

Hey there Matt!

Here's some excellent pics of the Dapol collection:

and a really neat set of pics on the protos for the last series:

They're really pretty crappy toys, though the last series seemed to lose the articulation (ALL OF IT) in favor of better sculpts. The early cyberman is sorta cool, though obviously not as good as yours! :D

Made w/ super sculpey then cast in resin for tooling. Sounds almost like simple one piece custom sculpts made for mass production...!

Leo! I'm working on getting all the new Dr. Who transferred to DVD. If it works out, I'll let you know. Luckily, it seems the BBC has a MASSIVE boxed set coming out in November, so that's a must-get. The series has been fantastic, from what I've seen. Still need to get caught up on the past few eps.

Matt, you're a great and noble human being! I'm going crazy not having "regular" access to this series right now!

BTW-- found this clip online if you're interested in some new Dalek footage.

*WOWZAHS*!!!!

MAN that's slick!

By the way, I took the plunger... I mean, the plunge. Bought me a Dapol Davros off eBay. I know I essentially threw away $15, but it should be fun for kitch value. Now I just have to track me down a Dapol Cyberman and hopefully the novelty will wear off. =)

I'll let you know if I get the DVDs up and running...
