My biggest white whale (for action figures) is the Alfred/ Clayface BTAS four-pack from Toys R Us. I have a LOT of white whales for plushies though. However none for DVDs unless you only count stuff that I want that hasn't been released yet.

Well cross one off my list! Got a Chaos Magic Grundy on eBay today. I was the only bidder the whole time.

44 dollars and he's still in the box! Cheaper than both my loose Grundy and my Bruce Timm signed Grundy in box. I'll be opening it for sure because I already have a boxed Grundy but I was stoked! The funny thing is that there was/is another one on there right now that had 5 or 6 bids and was in the 50's when I won this.

I didn't have the cash to buy it when it first came out and now it seems like I find them on eBay when I don't have the money and they're never there when I do... Same here, Jim. I can't recall if I had seen it at retail but some end of the line fatigue must have set in for me and I passed. Very stupid. Add me to this sorry list. I have every piece of the Muppets line that was available for retail sale (plus I won a Toy Fair Gonzo from the Palisades Club), except the Backstage Playset. I was having that end of the line fatigue as well; I was collecting a lot across the board back then & it was an expensive and large item, so I didn't pre-order it and since it never showed up at local retail, I just kind of let it go. I also had packed up my Muppets display and hadn't opened a Muppets figure in some time. When I decided I should get one, they were long gone, at least for a decent price. I haven't checked for one in quite a while, but I'd be happy if I could at least just get the Rowlf from the set. But it's not my White Whale... bnjmnrlyr wrote: Not to rub it in but ... Sadly, I missed the Chef with Lobster Banditos and have been casually hunting for them ever since.
Yeah, rub it in!

Not to rub salt in any wounds... but I was at Long Beach Comic Con over the weekend an saw a dealer that had a boxed Backstage Playset (it might have been opened cuz it looked like the Rowlf was rattling around loose in the box).
The asking price? $300!!!
Zoinks.

Man...that GI Joe pack with Alpine is like Bigfoot and Elvis to me. I keep hearing sightings, but have never seen it myself.
I've bid numerous times on DCSH Two-Face & Batgirl as well as the ML Destroyer only to see the prices climb out of my reach.
I absolutely love the Hot Toys stuff, but I doubt I'll ever be able to own any of them. I envy you guys who can afford them.

I don't think I ever mentioned mine. It is a McFarlane NHL Sports Picks Boston Bruins Ray Bourque. Always wanted one, will never get that one. I took a chance on a box when McFarlane was cleaning out the warehouse with a sale. It seems that everyone who ordered a box got one; I got a Bourque... in a Colorado Avalanche uniform
I am hoping that they can sign him one day for a NHL Legends figure. I will never get a NFL Series 5 49ers Jerry Rice either, but at least I have the 12" version and a couple of him from box sets (in different poses and uniforms).

Either one of the Durham Hulk or Spiderman windups from 1978. Or the AD&D Cave Fisher Windup (haven't seen one to even bid on, other than a graded example that was over $1000)
Also, the carded Donkey Kong mini arcade figures from the 80's as well as the Q Bert ones. I'd love to have them.
For action figures, either of the JLU 6 packs that are so hard to find (the one with Atomic Skull, Shadow Thief, KG-Beast, etc. or the one with Vibe, Bwana Beast, Deadman, etc.)
as for SHS, the next to impossible to find Kraven/Spiderman pack. I've actually seen a scalper trying to get over 3 grand for one on E Bay. It was EXTREMELY suspicious that the high bidder only had 1 feedback and kept raising it like every hour. My friend actually won an auction from the same guy, for the Kraven, at $350, and the guy wouldn't sell it to him, he said E Bay made him take it off or some nonsense...(seriously.).

I can now cross off Cyborg Superman, Black Lightning, Amazo, Supergirl, Catwoman, a Metallo leg, and JLU Red Tornado off my white whales list. What a day!

I really dont think you get the concept of a White Whale-- its not a want list-- its a very hard to find and complete the sale list.
Like the Jenny with a Wagon - Shelly Club doll that was only overseas-- been looking for that for my wife for 2 years- the last time one showed up on ebay- and ended at 250.00. havent seen a peep of it since then- even on various barbie boards and countless toy and doll shows.. ...

I believe the idea behind this thread is toys that are hard to find or that you have bid on several times only to lose out. Everything I've listed falls into that category.
