Holy heck!

http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/main ... -space-men

The 4H are doing The Outer Space Men! In 3 3/4" scale! With Glyos system joints!!!

Oh man, if Mattel were to do a new Major Matt Mason line in 3 3/4" as well...

That would just be freakin' awesome!

I've wanted those darn Colorforms Aliens for years but they were always sooo pricey!

YAY!

Ironically,

The best Matt Mason toys were not official Mattel items, but a flanking line from Colorforms.

The Colorforms Outer Space Men, are some of the coolest 60's era Alien designs and if the 4H were to tackle those, it would be an Amazing line, I think. The designs from the incredibly rare 2nd series is awesome. It's probably impossible due to licensing entanglements but it's fun to wish for...

Still, the Mattel Matt Mason stuff has enough retro appeal for me that I'd be interested in seeing a new line, especially Scorpio and Callisto...

Come on, did you know about this beforehand? If not, you missed out on winning a really cool prize:
http://www.fantasticexclusive.com/fforu ... IC_ID=4182

The winner will get the choice of a full set of faux bronzed urethane castings or a full set of unpainted urethane castings of the first two waves of The Outer Space Men.

Can we safely assume that your Major Matt Mason in 3 3/4" by Mattel wish will come true also? :)

Super excited over The Four Horsemen announcement that they will be doing updates of the Outer Space Men, incorporating Onell Design's Gylos joint system:

3 3/4" scale + Interchangeable parts thanks to the Gylos system + 60s designs by Mel Birnkran + Four Horsemen = Unbelievably awesome.

LOL!

I certainly did NOT know in advance. Heck, I didn't even know about the thread or hints at fantasticexclusive.com until a few days ago after I heard something mentioned on another board...

I did talk to Cornboy at Comic Con last year and mention how great I thought it would be for the 4H and Mattel to re-do Matt Mason. Then I mentioned it would be even better if they could do The Outer Space Men, but I said that it was probably impossible since they weren't Mattel property. Thinking back, he did say something cryptic like "it might not be as impossible as you think..."

I've just loved those figures ever since I discovered them in a issue of Tomart's back in the early 90's when I started collecting vintage toys (up until that point I only collected retail stuff).

I certainly hope Mattel does a Matt Mason line to go with the 4H Outer Space Men, heck it would make perfect sense! But it's just a wish at this point!

Great thread, was considering this myself after seeing the news this morning. I had these with my MMM stuff but sold them a few years ago. About 8 to 10 years ago I found 1" versions at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in the gift shop, in hard plastic and all painted predominantly silver. I imagine with the license being active again those will disappear.

I thought I saw those Outer Space Men somewhere before. Must've been in this thread. The Four Horsemen prototype shots look fun. It's nice to see them acquiring more licenses.

I don't recall from the article who, how, or where these will be distributed?

HOW DO WE GET THEM? Inquiring minds want to know.

Awesome, awesome news!

Four Horsemen + 3-3/4" = happy Jeff!

Throw in The Outer Spacemen and we're nearing perfection.

I had some of the originals when I was a kid. They might have been hand me downs from my brother. But, man, I dug 'em!

Now, the conspiracy therorist in me is wondering: Mattel's been hinting for years about the possibility of bringing back Major Matt Mason. Now the Horsemen, who work closely with Mattel, bring back what was always seen as a companion line to MMM. Could Mattel be closer to MMM than we think? Could it be coming back as a 3-3/4" line?

Hmmmmm.....

Very VERY happy to see this news. I'll be supporting the Horsemen and picking up this line. Woot!

Peace,

What are Glyos system joints and how do they compare to Ball joints, Cut joints and other common articulation used on figures today?

Wow. Just wow! Awesomeness. Not Thiundercats awesomeness, but awesome nonetheless.

I used to have the Color Forms of these. I think I used to have a set of little, hard rubber 'erasers' based on a lot of these characters. Damn, I have to find those.

Seeing the actual toys(prototypes, whatever they were) on the Color Forms box always made me want these. I just might have to get me some of them.

Oh, there was a display to the last big NYC show that had a ton of Outer Space Men stuff. I was transfixed by it!

I found this on another site a few minutes ago. I have never seen this before and this was the only pic I could get. Would like to see more on this set if anyone has it.

Glyos system joints are simple cut joints, but it's a removable peg system that is very durable and allows you to basically use action figures as building toys.

Check out the Onell blog for samples. Matt even did a bunch of really fun Marvel and Micronaut inspired constructions:

Image

Marvel Inspired: http://onelldesign.blogspot.com/2009/09/configurations-collide.html

Image

Micronaut Inspired: http://onelldesign.blogspot.com/2009/12/build-spectrum.html

The joints are very smooth and firm, and the plastic is high quality and durable so even if you're not into rebuilding the figures are going to be sturdy and high quality.
