I like the monkey but hate that they put the mech stuff on him, would have made a good 'scale' Kong.

Something that may be of interest...

If you've seen the other thread about the Dime Novel Legends cowboy figures they've shown off a playset that's in the works... Back in 1980 Gabriel had a mail-away western town. It was just a cardboard punch out and assemble thing but it's very, very rare to find one today. Well these guys have gotten hold of one that was never used and had it scanned and scaled up to work with fully 4" figures and it's being printed on high-quality sticker paper and assembled out of sheets of acrylic. Here's a link to some photos of one and if you watch the Q&A video #1 he shows it off after a couple of questions.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ch ... ts/1727203

They're supposed to start offering them up in batches come spring. Expected to be around $150.

The LiveStream video is embedded in that page and may be the problem. Last night I had that link open and the video running in another tab and the video caused every tab I had open to lock up, had to shut down the browser completely to get it working again. Thought it was just my system because I have a lot of issues with embedded video... Let me see if I can find a work-around to that...

Try again. The LiveStream video isn't on this page anymore so it may work now. If not I'll re-upload the photos to my Photobucket and post them again over here.

Update #41 - Nov 3 2016

And now for something completely different...pt 2.

If you guys listened in on the Live KS Q&A tonight and haven't been keeping up with things on the Facebook page, then you might have seen something we are working on to go with your figures once they arrive.

Our buddy Joe Harris at D&J Toys has been working hard on a Western Town play-set for us. It's based (but heavily modified) on the very rare 1980 Lone Ranger Western Town mail-away play-set. It has been re-sized to accommodate our larger figures and has a working jail cell (instead of a jail closet) and swinging door in the saloon entrance.

There are 3-Dimensional details (lamps, signs and a hitching post) as well as a working footlocker. Interior and exterior surfaces are covered in high quality sticker paper, and laid over laser cut plastic sheet for durability and a sturdy play surface.

We plan to offer this for sale outside the KS in the Spring once everyone has recovered from the holiday season and it's effect on your wallets. Expected retail will be $150 per set. I hope you guys dig it! I know I sure do.

Nice, thank you. I can't tell the difference between your pics so it must not be much. The frozen page would not let me see past the second pic in the quote. those look great. I especially like the hotel.

Just found another article on Google about a western line from 1975-1980 called Little Legends by Excel and then Empire in 4" with a huge cardstock town playset. Worth looking up. I will hold the window on my computer if anyone wants me to repost it here.

It reminded me of the military line from Big Lots, which I can never remember the name of in spite of how many pieces of it I have, which has a really nice articulated horse in it, just in case you need one for your cowboys.

Not sure what you're saying or asking there...

I don't think I'm familiar with the Excel stuff.

There's a photo of Empire's western town box over on their Facebook page along with a Christmas catalog spread showing it set up. I think they're trying to get one of those towns, too, for reproduction. Empire's figures left a lot to be desired but the wagons looked great (not sure the quality but the detailing was very nice), good variety in them, too - fire wagon, peddler's wagon, buckboard, stagecoach, covered... CFT has a prototype stagecoach ready for tooling they just have to get the money together for that, they say they may try in the spring. The coach is good sized as it will hold 4 figures inside and 4 on top.

As for horses, that one from Big Lots is good (I may have one or two, I know I got a few camels for my Indiana Jones display) but the best horse I've seen in that scale is the one Hasbro did with the last Indiana Jones movie. If I remember right it was articulated at the base of the skull, the base of the neck and at each shoulder, knee and ankle. Pretty sure that it even had peg holes in the hooves to use with a stand for raring poses.

They look to be almost the same scale.

Excel created the line, then sold it to Empire. Check this article.

May have to copy and paste.

Ah, gotcha. It would only be about 1/4" - 3/8" difference in size so it wouldn't be that noticeable without seeing the size of the figures on each one.

Thanks for the link. Now I really want to track down those wagons, especially that peddler's wagon... Hope they can track down that town, as well. Would look a bit odd next to the other one with the town folk but would still be nice to flesh things out a bit more.

Gonna be a long wait for those figures to get delivered...

Which reminds me that they had the Super Hero Girls school set for $39, I think, down $10 (thought that was a TRU exclusive?...)
