Has anyone heard any rumors/talk of a potential new Muppet line to coincide with the release of the new Jason Segal-penned Muppet movie shooting right now?

I would imagine there'll be plenty of marketing and merchandise... but not sure about a new toy line.

Anyone hear anything?

Nothing yet... it would be really tough to top the Palisades Muppets line.

I have high hopes for the movie.

I'm kinda trying not to think about the new movie too much.

I want this to be epic and huge and funny and zany and humorous and endearing and ..., but am afraid I am building it up too much and will be disappointed no matter how well it is done.

So I am going to walk in to the theatre with no baggage and enjoy the ride as much as possible.

While I would love for there to be new toys, I agree with Julius. Its going to be a very daunting task for anyone to pick up that license and top what was done by Palisades.

The best bet would be if whatever company decides to step up took the line in a whole new direction/format/style and stayed as far away from the Palisades figures as possible.

... or they could blow everyone away and pick up where Palisades left off ....

I would like some company to get the original sculptors from palisades who did the muppets to do the new Muppet Figures if their is going to be a new toy line.

It's not EXACTLY what you are asking....however, it may be worth noting that Muppet action figures are still in full effect even after palisades closed up shop.

The Disney theme parks division has done 2 waves of "Vinylmations"...these are small Mickey Mouse shaped articulated bodies that have a different character painted on the figure....to their credit, they actually look very cool and have ticked through almost every major character so far. We are still waiting on Animal, Gonzo and Sam the Eagle in this small format. They even did an oversized version as Sweetums. They are very cool.

But maybe of more interest to you would be the fact that this fall, Disney is doing 4 2-packs that are Muppets/Star Wars mash-ups in articulated figure form.

I saw them in person and I will tell you that I think they are adorable.

Luke/Kermit with Leia/Piggy
Vadar/Gonzo with Obi Wan/Sam the Eagle
Han/Link with Chewbacca/Fozi
R2D2/Honeydew with C3P0/Beeker

Totally cool and niche product.

The Disney Vinylmations are pretty cool! I was tempted to buy a Muppets Series 2 blind box, but the last thing I need is more junk... er, STUFF to collect!
