Just found a small box of these guys. I dont even remember buying them!

What do you think of them? The Thor and Silver Surfer versions are very cool, so well made and heavy. How many different characters were made?

How do you buy something then forget ever buying it?

I've done that before.

Usually it happens to me with DVD's. I bought the Wolverine and the X-men season box set twice, for example. I must have gotten it back when it first came out, put it on my shelf to gather dust for a few months, and forgot. Then I see it for a nice price a few months later and buy it again.

Back to Icons. They've done Iron Man, Captain America (both with and without mask), Hulk, Phoenix (green and red), and Spider-man. I know there's been others.

A buddy of mine would use them as custom fodder for large Legends Characters. He turned Hulk into a Surtur, for example.

Kinda like how Hasbro is using them as a base for a lot of their Gigantic Battles figures like Bill Foster or Giant-man.

To piggy back on what Bill said, there's also been Nightcrawler, Colossus, Daredevil (and yellow variant), Punisher and Dr Doom. That's just from the Hasbro line of ML Icons. Toybiz also did:

I have a bunch of these, but have been disappointed overall. They look fantastic! But the quality can be iffy.

My Toy Biz Icons had flimsy and/or warped joints.

Hasbro fixed the joints, but to the point where they would barely move. It was so bad with Daredevil, Nightcrawler and Colossus (and to a lesser extent, Phoenix) that I broke one Colossus and ended up returning the three of them (I kept Phoenix). I never opened Thor or Cyclops, so I don't know how their joints were. The Gigantic Battles have been a tad better, but I still need to use a paper towel and pliers to get the hips to swivel. A Gigantic Pain!

There is also an unmasked Wolverine (both of the Toy Biz Logans are Astonishing X-Men costume). the Hasbro Wolverine is a brown repaint of that figure in that same costume, which looks odd.

Masked Captain America was really hard to find! Unmasked seemed to be the regular version.

I forgot about Doom. I think I may have him MIP in the attic somewhere (which I will find when I do my attic cleanup and well past due toy purge).

You're absolutely right about those hip joints.

I only bought Iron Man and Spider-man and I never got either one of them to move their hips and it wasn't for lack of trying.

So they both just stand there. Which is a real shame for Spidey, who really should be crouched.

I only got a few of these, but the ML Icons green Hulk is probably my favorite Hulk figure. I wish there was one just like it in the 6" scale.
