Now, for right tone:
Okay, a few years ago, Jim Abell sent me a variety of action figure stands to try out. I found, hands down, my absolute favorite was the McFarlane disc stand. They were inexpensive, sturdy, simple, and versatile. The weren't obnoxious and distracting. Just a good clean stand that worked for just about everything, except for 3 3/4" figures... of which there are plenty of stands for.
I had always planned on "one of these days" hopping over to the Spawn Store and loading up my cart with about 300 of these bad boys, but there was always something else that took priority. That's the thing about toy collecting for me, I always want to display my great collection, but I never want to buy display supplies. It's just not nearly as exciting as picking up a new wave of figures, or that hard-to-find playset you've been dying to finally get within your grasp!
Well, as luck would have it, I went to the Spawn Store the other day and could no longer find the stands. I immediately went into a panic, trying to find them. With no search attempt coming to fruition, in utter desperation, I emailed customer service, and their response was: "We sure don't. We haven't sold stands in years. Sorry."
Ha ha ha! ...Jokes on me. I waited too long (apparently a few years--really? Wow), and now they're gone, and I can't find them anywhere!! In other terrible news, I also found that several other "action figure display" companies have closed up shop, too. If they stop making the Apex display stands, I'm jumping out the window. ...Though, acrylic display cases shouldn't be hard to come by.
So, here's my issue folks. I. NEED. STANDS. Not for 3 3/4" figures, because there's a ton of them out there. That being said, why can't I find a nice, inexpensive, generic stand which will work universally for Marvel Select, Marvel Legends, DC Direct, DCUC, Ghostbusters, Star Trek, Dick Tracy, Bill & Ted, TMNT, etc., just like the McFarlane stands did? I have searched, and searched, and searched for days, and am still coming up short.
I found these, but good Lord! The price, and the space they'd take up!!
Someone please light this dark hour. Speak the good word...

I did forget that Protech makes stands in the size that I'm looking for. Though, my experience with Protech stands has been... less than stellar. I've broken a LOT of pegs off. But, at the end of the day, if there's no better option, it's certainly better than nothing.
What is it they say about beggars and choosers?
Thanks for the link, Geek!

Yes, the WWE logo is "scratched" into the center but it isn't painted/printed so it isn't that noticable and they have a slot along the front edge of each oval that you can put a name plate into if you wish... http://collecting.mattycollector.com/ww ... /Kits.aspx (just to give you an idea of how they work)
