Normally ths would go on the "Press Room" board, but I think this is deserving of being a discussion topic so folks can say "goodbye and thanks" to Ken and "congratz" to Kim.

Ken has always been a friend and was responsible for some of the coolest products in my collection. We here at AFI want to say "thanks for everything and best of luck!"

This would be a tragic day worthy of rewriting the "The Day the Misic Died" to be about Ken and call it "The Day the Plastic Died" if the incredible Kim Mattison weren't waiting in the wings to pick up the torch. Any of you that have met Kim at a con know she is JUST as crazy and an outside the box thinker as Ken. (This may be a good thing for Mike Horn! The two of them were always dangerous together!)

Thanks for everything Ken! Congradulations Kim!

Elkridge, MD (May 17, 2005) – Today, Ken Lilly has announced that he will be stepping down as Vice President of Creative Development at Palisades Entertainment. Lilly’s decision was influenced by his desire to relocate his family to Columbus, OH, sometime within the next year.

“Words cannot express what Ken has brought to this company,” said Palisades President and CEO, Michael Horn, “He is a pivotal member of this team, and we owe a great deal of our success to Ken’s commitment to his job, and to his visionary techniques in the field of product development. He is truly an artist, and has given Palisades Toys – and toy collectors world-wide – some of the finest products ever seen.

“That said, Ken is a part of the Palisades family,” continued Horn, “And while we certainly wish that our paths were not leading apart, we can respect Ken’s decision, especially concerning the needs of his family. This is certainly not the end of Ken’s involvement with Palisades, and our door will always be open to him.”

Ken will remain on with Palisades in a consulting and advisory role through the remainder of 2005, and possibly beyond.

In the meantime, Palisades Entertainment has promoted Kim Mattison to Director of Product Development. In her new position, Kim will head up product management and creative strategy for all of Palisades’ product lines. This includes licensed products developed by Palisades Toys and Factory X, as well as Palisades’ own independent product lines. Additionally, she will serve on the company’s management team.

“As Ken’s protégé for nearly three years, Kim has developed the ability to create products that have quality design and meet and exceed customers’ expectations,” said Horn, “In fact, there was never a question that Kim should be the one to succeed Ken. She has absorbed everything that he has taught her, and has developed into a very talented designer and leader. We are 100% capable of the direction in which she will lead Palisades’ product development division. I am totally confident in her abilities and am anxiously looking forward to this new era under her creative direction.”

Added Lilly, “While this is certainly not the ‘end’ of my association with Palisades, it is certainly the beginning of a new era. That said, I have complete faith that Kim will continue Palisades’ legacy of creating the highest-quality collectibles in the world. As for me, I am just stoked to see what Palisades has in store for the future!”

Just wanted to post to say thanks to Ken for all the great stuff he's brought the fans over the years (and if some big name companies were smart they'd snap him up!) and welcome to Kim! I'm sure we'll be seeing great things from her in the next year!

Hmm well I hope this has nothing to do with the blind box craze at Palisades right now. And I hope this doesn't mark a turn for the bad for Palisades' message board's openness.

I may have had some beef with Ken way back for the Resaurus Street Fighter line, but man, he did his best work ever on the Muppet series. It was very clear old shiney had a great love for the felt and fur.

Good luck Ken! Everytime I look at my muppet collection I'll think of you and your exasperating attempts to appease the rabid fans in the Q&A section of the forums. (And of Otter too, of course, without which I wouldn't HAVE a Muppet collection)

Wow! Big news!

Man, sure am sorry to hear Ken is leaving. He's truly one of the coolest guys in the toy world.

But great news to hear that Kim is moving on up! She is THE coolest lady in toys (as anyone who's met her can surely attest to.)

Congrats and best wishes to 2 of the best folks at THE BEST TOY COMPANY EVERY!
