The more I hear about this movie, the more excited I am about its release next summer. What toys/figures do you think (realistically, now) will be made for the movie? Here's my list: Superman Clark Kent/Superman Space Suit Superman Lex Luthor Possibly a battle suit Luthor if they manage to get him in one for the movie Whatever Kryptonian criminals appear in the film I suspect we'll also see a rocketship like the one Superman will use for his space travels. A Fortress of Solitude would be nice, but I don't know if it'll be made. Your thoughts? Gernot...

I'd love to finally get a Fortress of Solitude playset...and since this movie should stylistically follow the Donner films. How sweet would THAT be?!?!
CubanZod picked up on the the EP II Genosian playsets at Wal-mart on clearance for $6, painted it white and uses that for a FoS display. It looks really good. I'll have to have him take pictures for the site.

I figure Mattel will probably go with the 5 inch line like they have with Batman Begins, for a better price point on the inevitable "off-screen" vehicles and playsets. Which is dissappointing, because pretty much everything we've collected is in the 6 inch Legends/DC Direct Scale, and I'd love to have movie versions of these guys in that scale.
Julius - any chance of DC Direct making this possible for us?

Whatever Mattel does for the Superman line, I hope it looks better than their Batman Begins stuff.
"Yikes" is an understatement.

I'd love to say: Superman Clark Lois Lex
But based on Mattel's Batman, The Batman and Batman Begins lines I'd have to say something more like
Superman Clark/Superman Lex Several variant Supermen
If we're lucky we may get Lois as a con exclusive, but for most of us (myself included) that only means a lot more money and hassel to get a figure we want over most of the stuff they put on the shelves.
That said I am impressed that Mattel are offering a Ducard figure. Now just give me a Dr. Crane and make villians more than 1 per case and I'll be VERY happy!

I just hope they do a more reasonable scale than their recent releases. With so many sizes (JLU, The Batman, Batman Begins, Comic Book Bats) Mattel has been all over the map with scale. Personally, I think 6" is THE scale for comic book style or movie style Super Hero stuff, while 4-5" is the scale for animated style superheroes... As long as they don't pull a Harry Potter and do some oddball size like 8-9"... Still, after seeing the Batman Begins stuff, I'm not holding my breath on good Superman figures... SpyMagician

Julius M Sounds COOL, Julius! I'd love to see pics! Me? I missed out on the Arenas the week they went on clearance and disappeared. Wisj I had put one in lay-away, regardless to have a shot. I can't even find a decent priced '89 ToyBiz BatCave to repaint into the STAS FoS! (or even the recent GIJoe Cobra Mountain) Who was it who did that FoS, originally? Cason?

If it's 5" scale and as poor as the Batman Begins line, that's a pass for me. They should've just adapted the comic Batman line for Begins for a few waves instead of making it compete(and thus dying). Then bring that back when the Begins furor died down. Imagine Four Horsemen Batman Begins figures!
Frankly I'm more looking forward to a deluge of DCD figures revolving around on Superman(as opposed to now...hah). I figure there'll be at least one really good one from DCD in 2006. Maybe that Jim Lee one. Without the salad this time, please.

Frankly, I almost hope they ARE in the 5" scale! Then, they'll take up less room, and they're still big enough to enjoy! That's not to say I WOULDN'T enjoy a 6" line, but they're making these for KIDS, remember. They've GOT to be made small enough to fit in a kid's pocket, so he can sneak 'em off to school (I sincerely DOUBT you'll see any kids sneaking ML to school!), and a smaller size will make it easier for a kid to get with their allowances. Plus, it'll make it easier for ME to afford 'em, too! Gernot... thinks Superman's space rocket will be this line's "Batmobile"

"regular" Costume Superman "transforming" Clark Kent to Superman "battle suit/armor" Lex Luthor "kryptonian blast' Superman "artic armor" Superman "power punch" Superman "grab and slam" Perry White (SERIOUSLY! they'd make him before lois!)
about 4 or 5 "deluxe" boxed figure
Kryptonian Spaceship vehicle with "black-suit" Superman
Fortress of Solitude playset with exclusive Superman figure

After seeing this: And ontop of tht Mattel is doing them, I have no insterest in this line. I am not sure if it is the angle of the shot, but this actor has no upper body muscle and this is Superman we are talkin' bout not Daredevil?
