That paint scheme is awful. Makes it look like a cheap knockoff figure, not an actual game piece.
Thank goodness my son isn't into variant chasing with these ...

I'm assuming the Toys R Us Ninjini promotion was a huge success considering the number of figures now available on eBay with prices ranging anywhere from $100 to $500 dollars.
Hopefully we'll see this figure get mass release soon and I can have a nice chuckle at all the auctions that just die out instantly...

Picked up the Hot Dog Pack at Wal Mart Yesterday (Looks like its shipping in full cases...) That leaves just 7 more to go-- It seems they got the figures out a lot faster this time..(Of course so they can start with wave 3)

Stopped by TRU on a whim today and found LEGENDARY LIGHTCORE CHILL
They had about 100 of them so don't feel you néed to rush out to get one, but if you have been getting legendary figures you now have a new character to add to the ranks.
Didn't see the standard lightcore Chill though. Hopefully soon

So I JUST picked up the game this past week for PS3. I have a set that came with 3 characters, plus I had a couple of characters that were left at work. TRU is currently having a by one get one half off for all Skylanders stuff. Who else do I need to get started?

Honestly? Nothing.
You can play the game to story completion with everything in the starter box.
However ...
if you want to get 100% completion of story sidequests and collectibles, you will need at least one member of each Element and at least 1 giant.
If you want true 100% completion of everything in the game, you will need to get every character/figure to max out your bonuses and open all bonus content.
Depends on how deep into the game you'd like to get to be honest.
But I have a feeling I know which option you are going to end up with don't I?

It looks like the next way is hitting the Bay (and I assume since I saw a single carded Hot Dog- I missed some of the others-- but non Times Square TRU Ninjini and Spyro are there-- maybe a few others-- I dont look that hard for these)

Ninjini is now listed on the toysrus.com site, but it is marked as "sold in stores" only.
I did click the link for an email when it becomes available so hopefully I'll be getting that notice soon.

Picked up a Ninjini at Target today during my lunchbreak.
They also had the new singles (Spyro, Wrecking Ball, Hot Dog) and a new 3pack (Eruptor, Stealth Elf, and Terrabite).
The collection of new characters is now complete, and with the current "buy 2 get 1 free" promo it'll be a bit cheaper to complete the wave 2 versions...

Yeah, I saw about 50 of that figure on an endcap. It is a very nice looking alt color scheme and an exclusive I'd probably pick up if I didn't already have the original.
Too bad Flashwing isn't a Lightcore figure though ....
