It looks like they might include Marvel and Star Wars Characters--- this could be an insane concept and even more extensive than Skylanders....

I really thought Nintendo would jump on the concept and give us Mario and their stable of characters or that Sega would have with Sonic and all their characters.

It would truly be fantastic though if you could use one universal portal to get these characters into each of their respective games ....

Reading through the press release and watching the video, I'm not sure if I like the approach they are taking with this.

Its great that we'll be diving into all of Pixar's characters, Pirates of the Caribbean, Nightmare Before Christmas (was that a hint of Tron I saw?), and Mickey and the gang, but that each character will be "locked" into their own game and world seems a bit restrictive. Toybox mode will be fun but sounds a bit pointless as it is only briefly mentioned.

On the one hand its great that this isn't planned as a single game, but more as a family of game options, but as a consumer, I don't know that I'd be "all in" for this format, and if any one of the games in the brand don't hold up how will it affect the line overall?

Too soon really to make any final decision, so I'll be looking forward to future developments and hopefully a demo station or two.

The game not only takes from Skylanders but also from MineCraft. The ToyBox mode is a build-it-yourself home world area. Something you can also show off online. The game also has vehicles and items that can be saved in a toybox for future use or use in the ToyBox mode. Each character unlocks his "playset" or world but also unlocks some specific items in the ToyBox mode as well.

I am not sure if the characters will be locked in their own world. The game is 2 player at home or 4 player online. They won't lock you into one world or limit you to 2-4 of the same world characters. Not with the line-up they are showing.

It is way too early to make a final decision on the game. I would want more gameplay footage and a possible future list of character releases. It has been stated that 40 pieces would be released for the first launch. 17 characters are confirmed with more to come along with magic items, weapons, and worlds.

We all know Disney and how well it sells. I cannot say that this will outsell Skylanders, but it is Disney. I don't know if coming out 2nd will be a factor for Disney or not.
