Fox Developing Daredevil Reboot
Source: superherohype.com
February 5, 2010
In order to keep the movie rights to Marvel Comics' "Daredevil" under their belt, 20th Century Fox and New Regency are looking to develop a reboot of the sightless superhero with News Corp VP Peter Chernin producing and David Scarpa ( The Day the Earth Stood Still) writing a script, according to Mike Fleming at Deadline Hollywood.
The original movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson and starring Ben Affleck in the title role (and his current wife Jennifer Garner as Elektra) was released almost exactly seven years ago and grossed $179.2 million worldwide.
This probably shouldn't come as too big a surprise as there has been talk of some sort of reboot ever since Disney bought Marvel last year, but this is the first confirmation that one is being actively developed.
Mike

David Slade to Reboot Daredevilby SuperHeroHypeMar 15th, 2011 The 30 Days of Night director heads to the Marvel Universe20th Century Fox has targeted David Slade to helm the studio's reboot of the Marvel property Daredevil. SuperHeroHype has confirmed that, while no deal is in place, Slade is very likely the man for the job. Though previously adapted by the studio in a 2003 version starring Ben Affleck in the lead, this version of Daredevil will reboot the franchise and will not be connected to the previous Mark Steven Johnson film (or the 2005 spinoff, Elektra). As reported just over a year ago, Fox needs to have a Daredevil film in production in order to keep the rights from reverting to Marvel Studios (now owned by Walt Disney Pictures). Slade, who made his feature debut with 2005's Hard Candy, previously tackled a comic book adaptation with 2007's 30 Days of Night. Since that film, he's been in Vampire-mode, turning in last year's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and was, last month connected to the "Dracula" tale, The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Brad Caleb Kane to Draft Daredevilby SuperHeroHypeJun 8th, 2011 20th Century Fox is moving steadily forward with a reboot of Daredevil, set to be directed by David Slade ( Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse). Now, The Hollywood Reporter has word that the studio has brought aboard a scribe in the form of Brad Caleb Kane. Kane, a relative newcomer, has served as a writer on the television series "Crash" and "Fringe," but is, bizarrely, also known for being the singing voice of the title character in Disney's 1992 animated film, Aladdin. The article suggests that Kane will adapt Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's "Born Again" storyline, which ran in Daredevil #227-233 in 1986. The storyline involves an intense personal attack on Matt Murdock's friends and family following Wilson Fisk (aka The Kingpin) learning his true identity. Kane is said to be a tremendous fan of the character.

This could be really a good movie, if they do it right.

From IGN: No Hartnett as Daredevil?David Slade confirms no Hartnett and no 3D at this time.by Max Nicholson June 20, 2012 Following an off-the-cuff tweet from director David Slade, the Internet was abuzz with rumors suggesting Josh Hartnett was up for the title role in Fox's upcoming Daredevil reboot. Slade, who's been attached to the project for over a year now, got fans a little too excited when he agreeably responded to a hopeful tweet asking about his former 30 Days of Night star portraying the blind lawyer-turned-superhero. However, given that the film is still in the writing stages, Slade later clarified that casting had not even begun and that Hartnett nor any other actor was "being discussed" at this time. But he didn't rule out the actor completely, adding that Hartnett was "an excellent and underrated actor and a wonderful human being." While he was at it, Slade also debunked any rumors that Daredevil would be shot in native 3D, as he is "firmly against" it. What's more, 20th Century Fox is "rightly against 2D to 3D conversions." So there you have it. Slade's Daredevil will definitely not be in 3D and will also probably not star Hartnett as the Man Without Fear... probably not.

They can't do much better than "Born Again." Probably the best story arc DD ever had.
