I may be in the minority here, but I am looking forward to this one. Burton has made some really bad movies, but his comedies are always good and this looks to be really funny.

The more I think about it, and the more I read of the reaction to this, the more I think this was the right direction to take the property.

Yes, there are some very strong fans of the property who are going to cry foul until the end of days, but that audience is so small it would basically be suicide to try and cater this film to them.

The studio wants this to be successful. And that means very large audiences for long periods of time. That means it needs to be accessible and inviting to the lowest common denominator and comedy is campy comedy is, generally, one of the best ways to do that.

It isn't the direction I would have picked to go with this, but who am I in the greater scheme of movie-making really?

I don't know that I'll be there opening week in the theatres, but I bet I'll catch it at the dollar theatre and I'll definitely pick it up at the RedBox or On-Demand when it comes around.

Gothic Vampire stories are "in" right now. Had they done this properly it would have been a blockbuster. As it stands, it will probably bomb because it appeals to no-one.

Told you it would bomb (going up against The Avengers didn't help). Next time instead of sitting on the property for another 20 years they should hire a competant director and actually treat the material properly.

Yeah I saw this today.... awful... terrible... and sadly it had some potential...
