I thought 3DD was going to be in refrence to a couple of the first ones "stars" and meant an unrated version..

Is Ving Rhames Back for Piranha 3DD?

Source: Shock Till You Drop

December 15, 2010

Shock just spent the morning with the cast of Death Race 2, and during our chat with Ving Rhames, the subject of Piranha 3D came up.

Knowing the unpredictable nature of the filmmakers behind next year's sequel Piranha 3DD - that would be director John Gulager and writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton - we had to ask Rhames if there was the possibility he would return for another round of piranha-slaying action.

Rhames told us that there are talks happening right now about whether or not his character died in the original and whether he'd be back.

As the film is due in theaters next fall (September 16), I'm sure we'll be hearing more casting talks in the near future.

New Writer Brought Aboard Piranha 3DD

Source: ShockTillYouDrop

March 27, 2011

Moviehole reports Joel Soisson has been called upon by Dimension Films to tackle another draft of Piranha 3DD, the big screen sequel which was recently pushed to a November 23 release date.

Soisson will also co-produce.

He'll be tinkering with a script already penned by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. John Gulager is directing.

So, why Soisson? Moviehole says the man's got a knowledge of 3D.

Dimension also knows Soisson can pull in a movie on the cheap, since he has done it in the past for the company. Soisson cranked out those awful Pulse sequels and recently wrapped the new Children of the Corn: Genesis.

Same Piranha, New Location for Sequel

Source: Bloody-Disgusting, ShockTillYouDrop

March 30, 2011

The vicious fish of Piranha 3D are seeking a human buffet in new waters in the upcoming sequel, Piranha 3DD.

Primarily, they'll be feasting on flesh in the waters of a waterpark, says B-D. Says the site's source, the fish will find their way through pipes to get to the park.

My question: Does this mean the nudity will be toned down? After all, I don't know any waterpark that allows skinny dipping...

John Gulager will direct the sequel based on a script by Marcus Dunstan, Patrick Melton and Joel Soisson.

From IGN:

David Hasselhoff Joins Piranha 3DD

Just when you think you couldn't be more excited, enter The Hoff!

May 11, 2011

David Hasselhoff has been cast in the latest water-terror film, Piranha 3DD, Dimension Films has announced.

The action star/recording artist/author/pop-culture phenomenon joins a cast that already includes Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka and David Koechner.

Piranha 3DD is set at a water park that becomes infested with the infamous flesh-eating fish. We don't yet know what role The Hoff will play, but the film is set for release on November 23.

'Nuff said.

Piranha 3DD International Posters Surface

Source: ComingSoon

February 20, 2012

Two new international posters for John Gulager's follow-up to Piranha 3D, Piranha 3DD, are now online, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting and Zone Fears.

Written by Marcus Dustan and Patrick Melton (Feast, the Saw series), the film stars Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd and Paul Scheer.

Having awoken from their spring break extravaganza at Lake Victoria, the swarm heads upstream where they look to make a meal out of Big Wet, a local water park where when it comes to fun, nobody does it wetter! Thought they came to get wet, get loaded and get some, the staff and patrons get more than they bargained for when they must face the fiercest, most bloodthirsty piranhas yet. Lead by the strong-willed, studious Maddy and her friends, Barry and Kyle, the trio must dive in and take on these man-eating creatures using every ounce of their being... but can they be stopped?

Piranha 3DD Trailer is Here! Time to Get Wet!

by ShockTillYouDrop

February 29, 2012

Are you ready for it? Here is the official trailer for Piranha 3DD, the follow-up to Alex Aja's Piranha 3D directed by John Gulager and written by Marcus Dunstan, Patrick Melton and Joel Soisson.

There is no shortage of tinklebobs, butts, sexual innuendo and voracious fish in this preview, which you'll find after the break. It looks like the fish in this one can go just about anywhere they want...including a bathtub. And it certainly appears Gulager, Dunstan and Melton tapped into their insane Feast sensibility where anything can happen.

The sequel - which does not have a release date yet - stars Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd and Paul Scheer.

April 11, 2012

Dimension Films has debuted seven new images from their upcoming Piranha 3DD, set to hit theaters on June 1st. Check them out below!

After the terror unleashed on Lake Victoria in Piranha 3D, the pre-historic school of blood thirsty piranhas are back. This time, no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of summer's best attraction, The Big Wet Water Park. Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) reprises his role as the eccentric piranha expert with survivor Paul Scheer ("The League") and a partially devoured Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction) back for more fish frenzy.
