Famke Janssen is now locked for a part in the upcoming Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Playlist is reporting.
Janssen, best known her role as Jean Grey in the first three X-Men films, will appear opposite Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner in the fantasy thriller. Set 15 years after the Grimm's Fairy Tale siblings incident at the gingerbread house, the film finds Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural beings.
From Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is expected to go into production soon for an unspecified release.
UPDATE:Deadline adds that Janssen will play the leader of the witches in the film.
Paramount has scheduled their Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters for March 2, 2012, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter, who also add that MGM has stepped in as a co-financer to the Paramount project and the plan is now to shoot the film in 3D.
The release will put the action thriller up against some family-friendly fare in the form of Universal and Illumination Entertaiment's animated Dr. Seuss adaptation, The Lorax.

Paramount Pictures has again delayed the release of their upcoming Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, though by a significantly smaller margin than the original postponement.
The movie was originally scheduled to be released on March 2, 2012 before being pushed back to January 11, 2013. The film will now hit theaters on January 25, 2013 and will also receive an IMAX release on the same day.
