Source: ComingSoon

February 8, 2011

Famke Janssen is now locked for a part in the upcoming Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Playlist is reporting.

Janssen, best known her role as Jean Grey in the first three X-Men films, will appear opposite Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner in the fantasy thriller. Set 15 years after the Grimm's Fairy Tale siblings incident at the gingerbread house, the film finds Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural beings.

From Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is expected to go into production soon for an unspecified release.

UPDATE: Deadline adds that Janssen will play the leader of the witches in the film.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Goes 3D

Source: ComingSoon

February 17, 2011

Paramount has scheduled their Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters for March 2, 2012, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter, who also add that MGM has stepped in as a co-financer to the Paramount project and the plan is now to shoot the film in 3D.

The release will put the action thriller up against some family-friendly fare in the form of Universal and Illumination Entertaiment's animated Dr. Seuss adaptation, The Lorax.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters will arrive from Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola and is set to star Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton and Femke Jansen. Set 15 years after the Grimm's Fairy Tale siblings incident at the gingerbread house, the film finds Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural beings.

While the Wirkola film is now planned for a 3D release, it should not be confused with the also-in-development film Hansel and Gretel in 3D, set to be produced by Michael Bay.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Moves to January 25, 2013

Source: ComingSoon

October 11, 2012

Paramount Pictures has again delayed the release of their upcoming Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, though by a significantly smaller margin than the original postponement.

The movie was originally scheduled to be released on March 2, 2012 before being pushed back to January 11, 2013. The film will now hit theaters on January 25, 2013 and will also receive an IMAX release on the same day.

The film arrives from Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola and stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton and Famke Janssen. Set 15 years after the Grimm's Fairy Tale siblings incident at the gingerbread house, the film finds Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural beings.

The new date puts Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters up against Parker and Movie 43.

Just on the basis of Arterton being in it I will go see this.

A Red Band Trailer for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters Has Lots of Exploding Bodies

by ShockTillYouDrop

October 29, 2012

Just in time for Halloween, Paramount has released a red band trailer for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, due in theaters on January 25, 2013.

Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton play the eponymous pair in a story that takes place 15 years after the siblings' incident at the gingerbread house. The two are now specialized bounty hunters looking to put down the cackling black-hat set.

Tommy Wirkola directs; this is his first U.S. film after helming the Nazi zombie flick Dead Snow.

That'll be a fun late night rental.

I can't see where its going to be getting my $10 for a theatre sit through though.
