I don't know if I can take this show getting any better. That last episode was just beyond description.
Spoiler: show
It's amazing how King Robert has such disdain for the Lannister family, yet he married into it, and is surrounded by them at every turn. I was kind of shocked the he just flat out told the Queen that she never had a chance of being his true love. That type of brutal honesty makes him an asshat, and makes me like him at the same time.

I definitely agree that Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) deserves all the critical acclaim that can possibly be lauded on him. He's an amazing actor. He's the only Lannister that I hope doesn't die.

Lady Stark's sister is crazy as batsh!t. I know I wasn't the only one taken aback by her breastfeeding a damn near teenaged boy.

Ned has quite the uphill battle ahead of him. I don't envy him at all right now.

Because it hasn't been dealt with in the tv show but is all over the early parts of the book...

King Robert took Cersei Lannister as Queen at the advice of the previous Hand John Arryn to strengthen his political and military ties. He knew she was a broogle and would come with more headache than she was worth, but he needed the support, money, and military might the Lannisters could provide.

Its the only negative thing anyone ever says about the previous hand. Every other mention of him is with reverance.

And, just so we're all on the same page, we're only about 1/3-1/2 way through the first book, so truly, its just getting started.

I have two things to say about this weeks episode.

1) Making the bald man cry.
2) Love the "Golden Crown"

Yeah, that twerp got what was coming to him.

I have a feeling the body count has just begun, though.

That episode was the first time I actually disliked the Dwarf. He was seemed out of character in his reaction to the fight. I would have much rather had him outwit the court in a debate, then whoop and cheer for someone's champion plummeting to their demise.

I was almost starting to think that he would join the Starks and help unmask the true conspiritors, now, I'm not so sure he isn't one of them.

Daenerys ... wow. She's becoming a force to be reckoned with. This episode made me think that maybe King Robert is right in sending someone out to kill her.

Hand Eddard Stark. Man, he just took it to a whole new level in court didn't he. Can't wait to see what the repercussions of this are going to be.

and it was so tempting to sign up for HBOGo and watch the next episode as well. But I didn't. grr. .....

I might agree with you about Tyrion but how would you feel if you are wrongfully (an assumption on my part) accused of a murder plot against a child? To me it seemed like he had decided the only way to deal with madness is with force. Speaking of which, how badass was Bronn? Can't wait to see him in more action.

I tend to think Tyrion knows there are shenanigans happening in the House of Lannister but doesn't fully accept them. Afterall, they are his family. I don't think he will join up with the Starks. Lady Stark kinda burned that bridge when she took him to trial in the first place.

If I was watching a fight that would literally determine whether or not I would die, I would be whooping and shouting, too!

I agree, Tyrion wasn't as clever as usual. He'd been stuck in that Sky Cell with no food or water for days!

No one watched the last episode?!? I'm surprised if that's case.
Spoiler: show
Things went all sorts of wrong once King Robert died (killed by a boar... hilarious). If the Starks manage to find a way out of this mess, they'll still have the Dothraki to contend with. And what the hell lies beyond that wall?

What's beyond the wall?

Spoiler: show
Gwenneth Paltrow's head

And I did watch it... damn fine episode. I think I haven't really commented before because I was left speechless. But I will say how about that Baelish? Huh? Yeah...he's awesome.

Lord Littlefinger is a Prick. And he likes it that way.

And at this point, the book and the show are starting to show some major differences and the Eyrie stuff in the book is so infinitely better than what was on tv...

Can't wait for the war to start....

Sansa is really starting to annoy me.

And, again, I feel cheated by the stuff with the Dwarf. I understand the need for changes to location, dialogue, pacing, etc., but these weren't the best choices....

Yeah, I hope Sansa ends up in a shallow grave.

I take it these snippets with Tyrion are expanded in the book? He was pretty awesome with the hill people.

In the book, Tyrion, Bronn, and the Hill People have a whole chapter in just meeting eachother. the dialogue is better, gives more information about motivations and expectations and the setting is much more intense.

The bartering with the Hill people is infinitely better and more involved in the book.

I almost feel cheated by what was on tv.

Also, the pacing of the show and the pacing of the book are heading in very different directions. Things that have already happened on tv haven't happened yet in the book and vice versa. I'm almost sorry I started reading this while it was still new and on the air...

Thanks for the heads up on the book, Ben. I'll wait to pick it up after this season is over.
Spoiler: show
As for this weeks episode, loved it. What happened to King Robert's brother, Renly Baratheon? Didn't he want to be king? Will he have a role to play in the melee that's about to ensue?

I just knew Drago was going to rip that guy a new one when he challenged khalisi. But I definitely didn't expect him to rip that out.
