From Wonder Con (via ComicBookResources.com) Quote: Timm: "For our first film of 2012, we do have another 'Justice League' movie. At this point, its title is 'Justice League: Doom,' and it's loosely inspired by the 'Tower of Babel' storyline (by Mark Waid and Howard Porter from "JLA" 43-46), it was written by (the late) Dwayne McDuffie, and is his last work. How does Waid's run get a JLA movie before Morrison's? An INjustice if I may say so myself. Personally, while it makes sense for Batman to have plans to take down the heroes if they go rogue, I hate the fact that this story sets Batman apart from and at odds with the League. It will be interesting to see how they adapt it. Will the JLA cast in the movie match the JLA cast from the book? Will Plastic Man finally be in a DC Animated Movie?

Damnit. Now I'm gonna have to go pick up the TPB. I never was a fan of Porter's artwork, but I like Waid as a writer. It is rather odd that they skipped over Morisson's run. Thanks for the scoop SF.

Well, to be honest, JL:Crisis on 2 Earths is a Morrison inspired story, it was just done as a one shot book separate from the regular comic series.
Interesting that you avoid certain artists. Its never been something that impacted my buying habits. Its always character that drives my purchases. If I like a character, I'll check out a new series featuring them. If I don't like the tone I'll drop it, but usually that takes a while to sink in.

How does Waid's run get a JLA movie before Morrison's? An INjustice if I may say so myself. That's why. I'm sure Timm and the rest want to honor their departed friend. Besides, that was a great plot from Waid, and not over long so they shouldn't have to cut too much out. Here's hoping Aquaman doesn't get cut from the roster.

This was a very well done run I thought and really started to spotlight the paranoia/back-up contingencies that Batman had in the late 90's and carrying into things like Infinite Crisis and whatnot. (If I'm remembering it correctly ) I'm looking forward to this but I have to ask, is this the next DTV after Emerald Knights (which would feel like a really long gap) or is there another film or two already scheduled that I am forgetting about. (maybe someone should make a "release schedule" thread for all the DC and Marvel DTV's or something... )

Batman Year One should be after Emerald Knights.

Man I hope they give us the bearded hook hand Aquaman and Kyle Rayner! Should be interesting and hopefully Plastic Man will be in there!

I would just like to see an Animated Aquaman movie, keeping true to the original Aquaman or even the newer Aquaman now, I was never a fan of Beaded Hook Hand Aquaman, it just didn't ring true for me.

Quick hijack of the thread for Aquaman discussion: - If, and I mean if, you read the regular monthly Aquaman comic featuring Aquaman with the hook and beard, then the story made a lot of sense. Peter David, the writer, wrote an awesome story run which lasted roughly 4 years (issues 1 - 45? - the last few 46?-49 were written by someone else). During this, the character really shown through. Then next writer (Larson?) also wrote a decent yarn. Morrison used that version because it was current during his run on JLA. Aquaman with the hook and beard was done well there as well. This is also the reason Aquaman lost his hand during the JL cartoon, to update his animated look to match his comic look. If you did not read the monthly series, it might not have had the same impact.

The PAD run of Aquaman during the 90's was the best Aquamn of the past 25 years. Nothing else even came close. Only the classic Adventure Comics run from the mid/late-70's is better.
And here's hoping Johns can give PAD a run for his money.
And at the very least, Aquaman needs to have one of those 10-15 minute shorts they've been doing.

Maybe they can just include an episode of Aquaman The Animated Series on one of the dvd's.

Is this the one after Batman: Year One?
The title is intriguing. Will it be JL vs. Doomsday or perhaps JL vs. the Legion of Doom?
As cool as the former would be from an action standpoint, I kinda hope it's the latter.

We will know Oct 14 at NYCC when the preview airs, unless someone lets something slip in an interview before then.
