The next DCA DTV will be set in the Arkham Video Game universe and will feature Batman and the Suicide Squad!

Looks fairly good from the short clips that I've found on Facebook today. Should be out in July(?) to capitilize on the 75th anniversary promotions.

Watched the Preview for this on the Son of Batman Blu Ray..

Much more excited for this one than previous couple of releases..

Its supposed to take place 2 years before the Video Games.. --

Plus the Suicide Squad-- Boomer, Deadshot, Harley, Killer Frost, I think Black Spider and some others.. And its supposed to be a Caper Movie-- (like the great JLU episode)-- and Batman is supposedly just the background story in this one (and doesn't even show up until a ways into it)

Not to mention CCH Pounder's return as Waller and Kevin Conroy as Bats...

Release Date and Bonus Features for Batman: Assault on Arkham Revealed

SuperHeroHype

May 07, 2014

Earlier today, we posted a behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming Batman: Assault on Arkham which gave viewers a better idea of what to expect from the film. Now, DC Animation has revealed some new announcements for the film including that it will be arriving on Digital, DVD, and Blu-ray combo pack on August 12. You can read the press release on the title below which includes a brief synopsis of the film as well as the bonus features you'll find.

Gotham is in great danger when the government assembles a group of villains — code named the Suicide Squad — and forces them to break into Arkham Asylum to retrieve top secret information stolen by the Riddler. Things take a turn for the worse when one of the Squad members (Harley Quinn) frees the Joker, who is intent on blowing up Arkham Asylum and Gotham City. Batman must use his super hero wits and strength to thwart the wicked plans of the Joker and the Suicide Squad.

“Batman: Assault on Arkham is a thrill-ride with everything a fan would want — a courageous super hero, depraved villains, and suspenseful plot twists,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, WBHE Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “Featuring voice talent from some of today’s hottest television actors, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is proud to release this as the next DC Universe Original Movie.”

“Working on a new Batman story is always exciting,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series. “As a fan of the Arkham video games, I know this movie is going to entertain all Batman groups, from comic book and super hero fans to the most dedicated gamer.”

Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) voices Batman, and joins forces with several Hollywood greats to bring the legendary characters to life. Adding to the celebrity-laden cast is Neal McDonough (Justified, Desperate Housewives) as Deadshot, Troy Baker (The Last of Us) as Joker, Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) as Riddler, CCH Pounder (The Shield, Warehouse 13) as Amanda Waller, Greg Ellis (24) as Captain Boomerang, and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Revolution) as Black Spider.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, Batman: Assault on Arkham is directed by Jay Oliva (Man of Steel, Justice League: War) and Ethan Spaulding (Son of Batman) from a script written by Heath Corson (Justice League: War). Sam Register (Beware the Batman, Teen Titans Go!), Benjamin Melniker (The Dark Knight Rises) and Michael Uslan (The Dark Knight Rises) serve as executive producers. James Tucker (Son of Batman) is Supervising Producer.

Batman: Assault on Arkham has tons of exciting enhanced content. The Blu-ray Combo Pack will include:

Arkham Analyzed: The Secrets Behind the Asylum – This is the documentary that traces the strange, demonic history of the location where horror is mixed with the extremities of the criminally insane. A place where Batman must keep his watchful gaze, to insure that what goes in does not come out …. ever.
The Joker's Queen: Harley Quinn – If The Joker were to have a girlfriend, what would she be like? This featurette covers the story of the deviancy and often provocative side to The Joker’s greatest ally, Harley Quinn.
An advance look into the next DC animated feature film with the creators and cast.
Four episodes from the DC Comics Vault.

Grr... 2 Best Buys in my area sold out of the Figure pack in set within minute of opening. Most likely because it is a HarleyQuinn figure pack-in and not another Batman...

So, after work I have to head out to a 3rd Best Buy and try to pick up a set...

I watched this a couple of weeks ago and while it's entertaining, I'm disappointed at how increasingly un-kid-friendly these movies are becoming.

Ugh. Whoever gave the guy playing the riddler a v.o. job needs to be thrown down an elevator shaft.

This is easily the most un-enjoyable DC flick to date. I almost stopped and didn't finish. I wish I had. Pure garbage and filth.

This too. I didn't like it, but I wouldn't let my kid watch it even if I had.

The last several have been like this. The PG-13 Batman movies and Man of Steel were more kid friendly than this.

Totally disagree..

Although I hate it is in the video game universe- this is now my favorite DTV cartoon release so far-- I hope we just get series of suicide squad movies..

I though it was funny where it needed to be , entertaining and great with action.. I don't mind having an adult cartoon once in a while-- and I don't think this one was marketed to children as much as the others (although Target does need to learn to not put all cartoons in the kids section).-- And I also don't believe every one of these going forward should be adult-- but once a year a so is okay..

Watched it twice back to back -- The second time with commentary-- which was very lackluster-- but even they state multiple times-- they were running the PG-13/R edgy line several times---and you have to be when you make mass murderers into anti heroes...

- and had to make several cuts and edits to get back to the PG-13 after they got all the raw footage back..

You could have went on Best Buy .com before the store opened and bought it, the local store would have held it for you. My store only had 2 when I got there, is it me or are they not sending as many to stores ? They must be mainly selling them online. But anyways the movie was decent, I liked the big time heist vibe it had . Joker sounded just like Mark Hamill overall it was decent but not a super classic to me. I really wish they would do another Batman / Superman or 52 story but I think from now on its violence over story which is sad I used to be able to watch most of these movies with my little cousins but not anymore. Assault on Arkham was a hundred times better then Son of Batman

Even if I could get past how un-kidfriendly it was...I thought the dialogue was awful too.

I don't mind this particular type of story...Suicide Squad and all, but even with that I thought it was poorly done. I thought the animation at times was awful as well.
