New Image From Resident Evil: Retribution

by SuperHeroHype

July 03, 2012

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly (via ShockTillYouDrop.com) includes this new photo from Resident Evil: Retribution, opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on September 14.

In the fifth installment, the Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Saw this today. Definitely one of the better ones (I'd probably put it at #2). The first third and last third are solid. The middle . . . well, it gets a bit silly (and that's saying something for an RE film). They did do one thing to tick me off, though.

Spoiler: show
Chris, his sister, and Kmart pretty much disappear without explanation at the very beginning. Hopefully they'll turn up for the big finale.

You can tell they had more money to spend and some of the fight scenes were pretty inspired (I especially liked the final fight). If you like the RE movies (and let's face it, we're not exactly talking about masterpieces of cinema  ), you'll enjoy yourself.

And the way it ends . . . Yeah, the end of the series is nigh.
