Warner Bros. Reveals Gangster Squad Banner

Source: Yahoo! Movies, ComingSoon

July 17, 2012

Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed this new banner for director Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad, starring Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone and Sean Penn. The September 7 release is described as follows:

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and--if he has his way--every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop...except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart. "The Gangster Squad" is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD's efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Gangster Squad Eyeing January Release

Source: ComingSoon

July 25, 2012

In light of the recent tragedy in Aurora, Colorado, Warner Bros. is planning reshoots to their upcoming Gangster Squad and have pulled the Ruben Fleischer film from its original September 7th release.

The Hollywood Reporter now brings word that January 11, 2013 is being eyed as a potential new date, allowing the studio to replace a scene that involves a shoot-out within a movie theater.

They shouldn't re shoot any scenes, just postpone the release until recent events aren't so raw. I really don't agree with this knee jerk reaction studios have when something in a film echoes a recent tragedy.

You can't white wash the real world, you have to accept it warts and all. Theres no way this film should come out in september with the cinema shooting scene it has, it would be too soon and too upsetting for those affected by what happened at the Batman screening. But if they put it back till January, then leave the film as it was intended.
