Principal Photography Starts on The Quiet Ones

Source: ComingSoon

June 12, 2012

Simon Oakes, Vice-Chairman of Exclusive Media and President & CEO of Hammer announced today that Hammer, an Exclusive Media Company, has begun principal photography on The Quiet Ones, the supernatural thriller/horror which will shoot on location in Oxfordshire.

Starring Jared Harris (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, "Mad Men") and Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), The Quiet Ones will be directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2: Terminal). Joining the cast are Erin Richards ("Breaking In," "Being Human"), Olivia Cooke ("The Secret of Crickley Hall," "The Fuse") and West End theater actor Rory Fleck-Byrne. With the story and original screenplay by Tom DeVille, revisions by Craig Rosenberg, Oren Moverman and most recently John Pogue, the film is produced by James Gay-Rees (Senna, Exit Through The Gift Shop) and Ben Holden in association with TPSC Films.

Inspired by true events, The Quiet Ones tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic Professor (Harris) who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.

The film’s creative team includes the cult favorite genre editor Glenn Galrand (Grindhouse, Rob Zombie’s "Halloween" series), award winning cinematographer Matyas Erdely (Miss Bala); costume designer Camille Benda (Junkhearts, The Holding) and production designer Matthew Gant (Hush).

Exclusive Media’s President of Worldwide Production & Acquisitions, Tobin Armbrust, is overseeing production alongside Head of Physical Production, Jillian Longnecker. TPSC Film's President, Steven Chester Prince, is a producer on the project for the newly formed independent film division of The Traveling Picture Show Company. Sales are being handled by Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s President of International Sales and Distribution.

The Quiet Ones marks Hammer’s next production after the worldwide box office hit, The Woman in Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe, which has taken over $130 million at the box-office worldwide to date.

Lionsgate Acquires The Quiet Ones From Exclusive Media

Source: ComingSoon

May 14, 2013

Lionsgate announced today that it has acquired from Exclusive Media the North American distribution rights to the Hammer production of The Quiet Ones, a supernatural thriller starring Jared Harris and Sam Claflin, and will bring the film to theaters next year on April 25, 2014. John Pogue directed the film from a script he wrote as well. The project was produced by Tobin Armbrust, Exclusive Media's President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions, and Simon Oakes, President and CEO of Hammer and Vice-Chairman of Exclusive Media, along with James Gay-Rees, Steven Chester Prince and Ben Holden in association with The Travelling Picture Show Company (TPSC). Lionsgate previously picked up the UK distribution rights to the film with plans to release theatrically in that territory. The announcement was made today by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger.

Jason Constantine, Lionsgate's President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, said, “At Lionsgate, we have a long tradition of bringing original, distinctive horror movies to audiences. Director John Pogue demonstrates a mastery of the genre in this terrifying, jump-out-of-your seat movie inspired by actual events and co-starring actors Sam Claflin and Jared Harris, who are already part of the Lionsgate family. We can't wait for moviegoers to experience 'The Quiet Ones."

The Quiet Ones is inspired by true events and tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.

Simon Oakes added, “We are delighted that Lionsgate is so passionate about 'The Quiet Ones' and are excited to be teaming with them to release the film in both the US and UK. We are thrilled to be going to Cannes with an impressive list of distribution sales.”

The Quiet Ones is John Pogue's second directorial feature film following Quarantine 2: Terminal and his eighth title as writer, having worked on "The Skulls" trilogy, Ghost Ship, The Fast and the Furious and his first film, U.S. Marshals in 1998.
