Rumor Has It That Marvel's Cast Captain Marvel

And we may see her sooner than expected.

By Jim Vejvoda

We may know who is playing Captain Marvel very soon if the rumor mill's to be believed.

"(The) rumor is that the studio has cast the role of Carol Danvers & keeping it top secret," according to Latino-Review, which adds that they've been told "we will first see her in #AVENGERS #AgeofUltron as originally written in previous drafts of the screenplay. In terms of the standalone film, the Marvel brain trust has blocked out the plot & story with the intention of bringing an established writer to write the script."

The site also claims that Marvel Comics legend Jim Starlin is consulting on the solo film, and that Captain Marvel writer Kelly Sue DeConnick had lobbied to script the movie.

Latino-Review calls the following "unconfirmed rumors" so let's take them as that until more is known.

Don’t Expect a Captain Marvel Cameo in Avengers: Age of Ultron

SuperHeroHype

Apr 12, 2015

Captain Marvel Cameo

Fans expecting to catch a glimpse of Carol Danvers in next month’s Avengers: Age of Ultron should be prepared for disappointment. In an interview today with MTV, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirms that, even though a scene featuring Danvers was initially planned for the blockbuster sequel, it’s going to be a little while longer before we meet the MCU’s Captain Marvel.

“We didn’t want to introduce her fully-formed flying in a costume before you got to know who she was and how she came to be,” Feige explains.

Little is known regarding Marvel’s specific plans for Captain Marvel outside of the fact that the big screen film will feature the Carol Danvers version of the character.

In the Marvel Comics 616 continuity, Danvers made her first appearance in 1968’s “Marvel Super-Heroes” #13. A Security Chief in the US air force, Danvers would later be transformed into the superhero Ms. Marvel following an explosion involving Kree technology. More recently, Danvers took on the identity of Captain Marvel after being “promoted” to the moniker of the former Kree superhero.

Captain Marvel hits the big screen November 2, 2018. Will we see her somewhere else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before then? Only time will tell, but check back for updates as they become available!

I still think that while we won't see Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers will show up at some point. That's why they're so specific to talk about her in costume.

Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman Targeted as Captain Marvel Writers

SuperHeroHype

Apr 13, 2015

Marvel Studios has a pretty interesting pair of scribes in talks to team up for their 2018 release Captain Marvel. According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) are in talks to join forces to script the big screen adventures of Carol Danvers.

Little is known regarding Marvel’s specific plans for Captain Marvel outside of the fact that the film will feature the Danvers version of the character. It was confirmed over the weekend that a Captain Marvel cameo was, at one point, part of the script for Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explained that the decision was ultimately made not to rush her appearance. As such, no actress has currently been cast in the lead and no director has yet been announced.

Captain Marvel hits the big screen November 2, 2018.

It’s Official: Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman Set as Captain Marvel Writers!

SuperHeroHype

Apr 20, 2015

First rumored last week, Marvel Studios has gone and made it official, setting screenwriters Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) to script the big screen adventures of Carol Danvers in Marvel Studios’ 2018 release, Captain Marvel!

It marks the third Marvel Studios feature for the year, following Avengers: Infinity War Part I in May and Black Panther in July.
